I am stubborn and forced myself to get to half way but ... i just couldn't read it anymore. The characters annoyed me. The world building was flat and made me want to scream. You have a society that is soo determined to not give offense or be rude, that they have developed a system designed to imprison and torture peoples personalities. You have the heroine having to "voluntarily" go to a room for sex when she was depressed and upset but she had to make herself presetable and calm/happy looking just in case someone takes offense. Because saying no might be considered rude. The world (and snail pace plot) just aggravated me. I could not force myself to finish this book.
I feel like the blurb for the book is misleading, she doesn’t become some radical speaker because she is pregnant and now can talk freely or speak her mind. The book is good, the general premise is that earth is looking for a planet with non sentient live forms pretty much to harvest since earth has used most of its resources. Long short of it they get in trouble/caught by aliens but our heroine is to be integrated into the alien society since she tried to protect the planet. If you are rude or insult someone on this planet you die, straight up half the crew just gets killed for being rude. And we go from there I’m not going to say anything else to give away the story but whoever wrote the blurb looks like they didn’t read the book at all. I read this as a kindle unlimited.
