GREAT series, not a great installment
19 January 2019
First and most importantly, Alessandra Hazard is a great writer and this is a great series, if you have not done so already you should definitely start from the beginning and read the "straight guys" books! Unfortunately I found myself disappointed with this particular book- it had so much potential that just wasn't capitalised on. The characters seemed to embrace a massive change in their relationship dynamic with almost no hesitation or discussion. There were brief references to why these changes happened but they were never explored the way they should have been. There was no build up or tension and unfortunately during the time their communication was struggling the sexual relationship seemed almost derogatory to me. This low rating is mainly there because the author has set a much higher bar for herself with all of her previous works, it is still a decent read compared to a lot of what is offered in this genre. Basically, all the pieces were there for another great installment, but I found many of the erotic scenes more uncomfortable and sad than hot, and hot is usually an absolute guarantee with this author.
I look forward to a return to the usual standard for the next book!
