Definitely this was a thriller. - you wanted to keep reading. I picked it fairly early, but the back stories of the characters kept me going. The toing and froing between the past and the present made it interesting. The protagonist was someone I could read more about as were the supporting cast.
Thanks to #netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest and fair review. The Couple on Cedar Close is about a marriage that is breaking down due to infidelities. After a very public confrontation by the wife at a neighbourhood bbq she wakes up one morning to find herself in her home on Cedar Close and her husband has been stabbed to death. Given her confrontation of him she is the number one suspect. Her problem is she cannot even remember what occured that night all she knows was she had been drinking a lot waiting for him to return home for dinner. The plot is suspenseful and serves up some plot twists that you won't anticipate. Even when I suspected who the killer was I still couldn't stop turning the pages to work out their motive. A great read and a reminder that nothing is as it seems in any neighbourhood. #netgalley #thecoupleoncedarclose #anna-louweatheley #goodreads #tea_sipping_bookworm #litsy #bookouture
*Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.* So, after beginning this book, I realised that it was the second in a series, focussing on Detective Dan Riley. The first novel is 'Black Heart' and I am now keen to go back and read it. 'The Couple on Cedar Close' can certainly be read as a stand-alone novel, but there were mentions of events that I assume occurred in the first book. I do hate when I start a book not realising it isn't the first in a series... however, I digress. 'The Couple on Cedar Close' is a fast-paced mystery, where the bodies continued to pile up. At first, I struggled to keep track of the shifting perspectives and all of the characters, but it did eventually fall into place. Laurie Mills is accused of murdering her husband Robert Mills. She doesn't think she did it... but then she can't really remember what happened on that day. It is up to Detective Dan Riley and his colleagues to unravel the truth, before too many other people are killed. An enjoyable and intriguing read.
