Interesting ...but to a point!

book through Amazon First Reads program. I normally do not read fantasy. I read Lord of the Rings in the 90's with one of my sons, and, Game of Thrones shortly after that when a co-worker literally pushed me into it ...then I couldn't stop.
I do love TV shows with a bit of magic, witches and vampires.
This was a free book through Amazon First Reads program.
Loved the start of the story with the witch Elena emerging from the swamp. She was cursed and turned into a toad. She has been in the toad skin for 7 years, and, manages to weaken the curse by ingesting the toad skin every time she sheds it. Elena suspects her ex-fiancee is behind the curse.
She then returns to the vineyard where her grandmother is the cook and housekeeper.
From here on we read about hexes, gargoyles etc.etc.
Something about the characters is lacking, and, how did Elena and Jean-Paul fall in love.
The twist of the Jinn appearing and the twist, in the end, was all too contrived.
The book didn't grab me however I finished it and I don't think I will be reading the next one in the series.
