Mr January is the first book in the Calendar Boys series and I have never enjoyed January so much, a fantastic start to the series taking you on a rollercoaster of emotions as Goodin gives you Andy and Dylan’s story.
3 years; that’s how long Andy has been away from his wife, when divorce papers kept showing up, he ignored them now that he is a free man It is hard to ignore her. When an ultimatum is given, he has 7 days to prove that she loves him. When the secrets start to surface Andy and Dylan are left reeling from the guilt and find solace in each other finally starting the life they deserve.
Andy is a mechanic, he loves hard and would do anything for his wife; being naive wasn’t a good idea for his future but he learnt his lesson the hard way. Dylan is strong, independent and a firecracker; she has demons that haunt her making her feel guilty every day.
“I told you he’s got even better looking.” “They should put him on a calendar or something, it’s just ridiculous.”
Andy and Dylan are not short on chemistry, they have it. Anytime they are in a room together you can feel the tension in the book rise, even with the guilt and secrets they cannot stop wanting each other; when you peel back the layers, they are raw and their sexual chemistry will burn through the pages.
This was my first time reading Goodin’s work and I personally loved every second of it, the idea of getting a new couple every month has me marking the days off the calendar waiting for the next installment.
Andy’s just got out of jail and he hoped to see her soon, but Dylan makes it easy for him showing up right where he is. She wants the same thing she has for the last three years – a divorce that he hasn’t signed. Dylan doesn’t want to admit but he gives her the same smirk that got to her years ago and he looks incredible, better since he’s out of prison. He refuses to sign the papers, being a thief was more important and she has to tell herself not to be weakened by him. Andy reminds her she never asked if he did it, but she can’t hear it from him. Surprised that Dylan turned up and new exactly when he was out, yet wants nothing to do with him, his friend tell him, he got her once and has to figure out how to do it again, that simple. Dylan is feisty and stubborn, and she tells him everything has changed, Andy shows her it hasn’t kissing her, but she leaves saying she can’t do it, leaving. Dylan wants the divorce papers signed but he wants a week to make her fall in love with him, the only problem, he doesn’t know she never fell out of love with him. Andy can’t believe that Dylan agreed to give him seven days, she has terms, but he knows he can win back her trust and love. One thing Dylan knows is Andy’s never lied to her, she knows he will wear her down, but she’s worried that she has something to tell him, that could change everything, it only took twenty-four hours the first time, but they both know the week is going to be a bumpy ride.
I received a copy of this book from Booksprout and I voluntarily leave my review. This is my 1st read and review for this author and this is a great story I enjoyed it. Dylan was totally in love with her husband Andy and he was with her until he was sent to jail for 3 years for a crime that he says he didn’t commit. Dylan moved on with her life she had no choice, she kept sending Andy the divorce papers which he never signed. Now Andy is out and Dylan goes to him and demands that he sign the papers Andy tells her that he will but before he does he has demands of his own, he wants 7 days to prove to Dylan that he deserves a second chance and that they still love each other. This is a great story and I recommend this book it’s well worth the read.
Oh my! I absolutely love Dylan and Andy! Their witty banter, the back and forth, the will they/ won’t they... such a great read! I loved that Dylan and Andy have already had their relationship so we didn’t need that buildup. You could feel right from the first page that they belong together :D Will Andy won Dylan back? You’ll have to find out 😉 Such a fun read and I can’t wait for the other Calendar Boys!!
