This novel takes us from the lifestyle of the rich upper-class of England to that of the poor, living in the slums in the late 1800s. Sad to learn what the poor had to endure in those times while little seemed to be done to help them. A young single lady, Victoria, living very comfortably with her rich Uncle's family, wishes to help those less fortunate than herself and because of certain circumstances, learns through experience exactly how these people have to try to live. Many twists and turns has the plot moving along at a good pace with few dull moments. The characters are quite believable with some very likeable and others not! This book is easy to read and well written and I recommend it.
Having read a few books by AnneMarie I found them very easy to read. I was happy to give The Slum Angel a try. Sure enough it was very enjoyable. AnneMarie has a natural talent to keep the story moving along..... I would recommend it.
The Slum Angel is a tour de force for AnneMarie Brear. Her wonderful heroine, Victoria leaves the reader in awe of her compassion, bravery in the face of unimaginable hardships and determination to make a difference. You will not be able to stop once you turn the first page
