Don’t be fooled by the title of this romance. It’s not your common single dad story but much more with complex characters that really have more to give then there obvious attraction.
This was a wonderful story about second chances. Kenneth broke Jessica’s heart when he broke up with her and left for college. Ten years later he has built a billion dollar company he is now CEO for and is a single dad to his daughter, Abbie. Jessica came home to see her gramps after he had a stroke. She also started working for Kenneth’s company unbeknownst to Kenneth.
Jessica gets promoted to the position of his secretary and when Kenneth realises it’s Jessica from his past he is confused and also realises his feelings for her never really left. He is going to have to work hard to get her to trust him again.
Jessica thinks she will be able to put her anger for Kenneth aside and just do her job so is stone cold and quite detached in the beginning of the book. However when Kenneth has to bring his adorable 4 year old daughter Abbie to work, Jessica sees a different side to him. She starts thinking maybe he has changed and isn’t the jerk he was back then. There is a lot that starts to happen for them. Kenneth has to deal with a harassment charges and Jessica has to deal with ghosts from her past....
Despite this the chemistry is undeniable... 'I've fallen head-over-heels all over again. For Kenneth. The boy that left me.' To dream of what could be, but can I risk the total devastation of a broken heart again? Or to make the mistake of opening my heart to Kenneth once again only to have my trust shattered once more. Have we stirred up things better left buried in the past?’
And from Kenneth’s perspective 'That spark? That connection? That moment it felt like you were coming home.' ‘Sometimes you just need space to realise just what you really have and what could be in your life.’
This is a beautiful stand-alone romance with drama, mature angst, a cute kid to boot and some hot steamy attraction...
It was a bit drawn out in parts, however, I did enjoy the book. It kept you immersed in the plot and you were wanting to find out the next step in the story. KENNETH is a successful CEO who has Jessica step back into his life after about 10 years as his new secretary. The book centres around them and his daughter Abby. I do recommend this read as overall it was very good.
This is an extremely well written book where the emotional depth of the storyline and characters is what draws you in and keeps you enthralled until the very last page.
Kenneth Stark single dad and billionaire is about to employ a new secretary and he feels as though there is something he should remember her about the name. How about they were a couple at high school until he walked away to go to MIT and start his business. Jessica Reynolds has her own problems but she is determined to keep things business like what is in the past is in the past. When emotions start to form between them will they take up where it ended or will they walk away you need to read to see
I was given a copy of this book but this is true and honest review
This was just a really well written story that kept you hooked from the start. The characters were really likeable, and I loved the way they handled what was thrown at them. Often some of these stories when it’s old flames meeting up again an be a little to predictable or the other parts of the story get a bit wish washy while you’re focused on the romance, but with this story you get it all, the story is complete and when you finish it, your not left going hmm what just happened, perfectly written by Lara.
I received an ARC of ‘Single Dad CEO’ and have freely chosen to read and review it. My review is honest and fair and is in no way incentivised.
Lara Swann what a book !!! It captured my attention from the start and I couldn’t stop the pages from turning. The story flowed and the characters, specially little Abbie, laughed at her excitement of the marriage. Highly recommend this book for all, you won’t be disappointed. I received a free copy of this book for a review.
