I went totally blind to this book and what a ride.
I went to the skies, I saw the most amazing sunrise, I saw the deepest darkest, I experience saddest that made breathlessly, I felt body so warm that I could melt the snow with my bare hands, I had so many feeling reading this book.
Marni Mann put her heart into it, and you can feel in every word, every page since I got this book I felt enchanted, and I couldn’t stop reading.
This book tells no one love story but many, all to the same woman.
The level of emotions is, so hight feels like you were in another dimension when you finished and you need a good hug to settle you down.
Wow! Thank you Marni Mann for this well written, emotionally charged story. As I was reading/listening my way through the chapters, I was caught in the suspense of not knowing what was happening between Alex, Dylan and Smith but knowing that whatever it was, it was love and a deep love at that, and that there’d be heartbreak at some point along the way. And yes, it was heartbreaking. I shed a tear as the end approached and I came to understand the reasoning of her love for both men. May, Alex always have sunshine in her life and with that everyday be perfect. I loved this story, and look forward to reading more from Marni Mann.
This book is a beautifully told story of heartbreak and tragedy. I loved how the chapters were short and to the point, it really makes you connect with the story on a deeper level. Dylan, Alix and Smith’s story is one that will stay with you forever.
“I always heard music. Beats, lyrics. I only had to listen to a song once before it started playing in my head. One day… the music stopped.”
When Ashes Fall by Marni Mann is a beautifully crafted story with so much raw and gut wrenching emotion that it was utterly captivating. I for one know that this epic tale is completely and irrevocably unforgettable. From the moment I started this story I was hooked and I could not stop reading, even when I felt my heart was being ripped out of my chest and I was left in a foetal position in the corner of the room (metaphorical of course). While this story was one mammoth emotional rollercoaster, it was well worth the ups and downs. It was such a phenomenal story and was written so beautifully; it positively took my breath away.
Alix is a first responder and knows all too well how moments in one’s life can change in the blink of an eye. She is caught between the love of two men and the more I read, the more unsure I was as to whether she would have the ability to let either of them go.
“Silence was like moisture; it created an environment that allowed things to grow. Fester. Eat into the walls and foundation.”
When Ashes Fall is NOT a story about cheating; it is a beautiful, complex and emotionally driven love story that is raw, profound and deeply moving. I breathed in every beautifully written word, felt every ounce of what these fascinatingly broken characters felt and I absolutely relished seeing this story unfold.
“I was in complete darkness. That was where I belonged. And that was where I stayed.”
Marni Mann has skilfully crafted a beautifully painful, inspiring, raw and gut wrenching tale of the power of love and the survival of the human spirit despite the surrounding utter turmoil. My advice is to go in blind with this one, because nothing and I mean nothing will prepare you for the pure epic that is When Ashes Fall.
What an amazing book this is; raw, breathtaking and full of emotion with such an unusual wonderful story that will make your heart ache for all these characters in this story.
Marni Mann has excelled herself here; as soon as I started reading the first few pages I just knew this book would be very special. Now and again you come across a book that in-beds itself into your soul totally and this book is one of those books, truly beautiful.
Ms Mann has delivered one hell of a story dealing with sensitive subjects and how the people in this story deal with their pain, realisations, love and hope. An extremely difficult review to write without giving spoilers away but if you don't read it then you will be missing out on a truly remarkable journey with some amazing characters to enjoy and discover.
I literally read it straight through in about four hours, I was so enthralled I just couldn't put it down. Phenomenal work !!!
