An absolutely swoon-y, friends to lovers romance! I’ve found it so difficult to find well written/edited fluffy f/f historical romance, but this is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I highly recommend it!
A Lady’s Desire is a lovely novella. It has a fairly simple plot and focuses most of its attention on the main characters—the proper and sensible Lady Sarah Lark and the more impulsive Win Wakefield, who used to be best friends and are reluctantly thrown together again after Win’s husband dies. The story unfolds between flashbacks of Win and Sarah’s childhood friendship and the present, in which they find themselves tumbling back into that earlier intimacy (though with a new awareness that their relationship extends beyond platonic feelings and possibly always did). Despite worries about the future and pressure from Lady Sarah’s parents for both women to marry suitable men, Win and Sarah fall more deeply in love. This friends-to-lovers and second-chance romance is a beautifully written and tender story.
Win's and Sarah's story is such a sweet, tender, lovely one. I really enjoyed this second chance at love between two friends. Ms. Maxton has a great skill of telling a compelling story with well fleshed characters in a novella length story. This novella was filled with emotion and heart, and I really enjoyed seeing Sarah loving Win even deeper, and willing to let go of her privilege life to be with the woman she loves. I recommend.
I adored this book so much. It is always very fascinating to have stuff to learn about other subjects that go around the main love story. I’d love to read more from this author, not sure there’s other books. Thank you.
