Not as good as previous books in the series
Reviewed in Australia on 3 February 2019
For me, Longstone was just OK. I was hooked on this series from book 1 - Holy Island - but this one was nowhere near as good as the previous books in the series. I'm wondering if LJ Ross is now just quickly churning out her stories rather than creating complex plots and character development as she used to. Ryan and Anna were like cardboard cutouts rather than rounded characters with whom the reader can have an emotional connection (as in previous books in the series). Also, the editing in this book is terrible and very distracting: the constant misuse of the comma is particularly bad. My blunt review reflects my disappointment in this installment of the DCI Ryan series, the rest of which I have thoroughly enjoyed.
