Avery and Presleighs story will grip you in from the very first pages that you read, its not for the faint hearted. This book did not disappoint, it had revenge, hatred, misery and violence.
Are you ready to meet Avery the Anti-Hero?
Lets just say I am super excited Shantel went back to the darkside, anyone that knows me knows that I love my books dark. This book is twisted as well as being on the dark side, but its also full of mystery. Throughout the book you will be wondering how it is all going to play about.
In this book we see glimpses into the characters past so we get that further insight of how their pasts have shaped them as the people that they are today. I loved seeing how their love story is developed, while you are dragged through the darkness with these characters, rest be assured there is light at the end of that tunnel.
The plot, the pace of this book and the secondary characters were all on point. The author did such an amazing Job and there is seriously not even words to describe this book well enough, Hence the no spoilers.
If you like dark, twisted, hatred, violence, misery and mystery then this book is for you, I guarantee that you will fall in love with this book and these characters just as much as I do.
Shantel Tessier knows how to write angst, heartache and couples that need to really work for their HEA - which is why I adore her. I was gripped from the opening to last paragraph... it really had me glued to it.
As you learn more about the complex characters and their incredible back stories... you realise how twisted and dark this love is. Avery and Presleigh both held me transfixed with the passion, angst, and the fiery push and pull they shared. The fact is what Avery had gone through in life was seriously mind boggling but I didn’t necessarily love Presleigh a lot of the time either. He was such an anti-hero but in the end I was so pleased for them both...
Despite the fact that this book had me riveted, there are a lot of triggers so its not for the faint hearted. Ultimately This if you want a book that has revenge, hatred, misery, violence and love, romance, steamy scenes and passion - this has it in spades!
OMG this was sooo freaking good. This is dark, twisted, violent; the romance is dark and messy. I fell in love with this story, it is not one for the faint of heart (there are quite a few triggers), I was sucked in from page one and didn't finish until like 3am because I was so immersed that I didn't want to put it down, I needed to know what happened with Bunny (aka. Presleigh) and Avery and their dark, twisted and messy love.
Slaughter is the dark and twisted book that takes Avery and Presleigh on a hard journey of love, want and betrayal.
Avery is the boss man and with that comes dominance and a cut throat attitude, Presleigh ‘Bunny’ is a pawn piece in a game of chess that Avery is determined to win. Taking Presleigh as his own starts a war that he didn’t even know was brewing for the past 11 years. When Avery takes Presleigh he tried to tell himself it was nothing more than to get his revenge for all those years ago, but having her again puts him on the back foot as he continues to surprise himself as his feelings for her return.
Avery is a strong cold-hearted man; he is ruthless and unforgiving, he doesn’t like to lose and he wants something he has never had any desire to have again. Presleigh is a broken soul, she has spent the past decade drinking and sleeping her way through New York, trying to forget the man that left her alone, scared and feeling unwanted. she speaks her own mind and expresses herself loudly and continues to do so throughout the book.
The chemistry between Avery and Presleigh is off the charts, they both have a magnetic pull towards each other and when they come together as one they 4th of July fireworks. Carters dominate alpha male ways sets them on fire giving into desires that they both never knew existed.
This is my first Tessier book and it is a lot darker than what I normally read. Personally, while I did feel awkward in moments throughout the book I did enjoy it, this is a dark novel that would not be suitable for all tastes. I really enjoyed reading about Tristian’s character and hope that he gets his own story, there is a lot of mystery behind that man.
This was my first book by this author. I was very intrigued with the blurb, it called to my dark twisted mind. On that front it did deliver, no-one could imagine or survive those horrors. Though for me personally the story was very slow to start. Yes things were happening, especially with the 2 main characters Avery and Presleigh. Taunts of secrets the other didn't know were thrown around constantly. as was witnessed in the present and the multitude of flashbacks from both characters. So we were kept with the carrot dangling til around 60% into the book. I actually put the book down a few times as it was boring going over the same things all the time.
I did stick with it though because I wanted to know how it ended, which did and didn't surprise me. I'm not one to nit pick with errors but for me this was a pretty big one as he turned out to be a major player in the storyline. When we meet him Avery's father is introduced as Victor. And he is referred to as such numerous times, but towards the end of the story his name changes to Vincent and is again referred to as such multiple times. I worked out who the author was referring to but others may not. And for me that was distracting as all the action was happening.
Overall the plot was good but I would have liked to see the action spread out a bit more evenly throughtout the book
