The long awaited Shelter for Penelope dropped in my kindle this morning and I just couldn't wait to start it, then as with every other Susan Stoker book I couldn't put it down except to grab a box of tissues, damn this woman can write awesome drama, gripping stories and emotional scenes that you just never forget and I'll never forget all of the awesomely amazing character's either.
We have watched Penelope and Moose for what seems like forever wondering if they would ever get together, could Penelope ever work through her PTSD and not not just get over it because PTSD is not something you ever get over but you can learn to live with it and move forward I honestly wasn't sure Penelope would ever do that even after she found Smokey and with everything Moose has always done for her I had my doubts she would pull through this I kept worrying she would break Moose's heart but in true Susan Stoker fashion there was an magical HEA at the end of this amazing book and I have to say not only do I admire Moose's unconditional love and devotion for Penelope but all of those in her tribe who always have her back, this story was truly heartwarming.
WOW book 15 so I’ve been reading Susan Stoker for a very long time now, years in fact, when you consider all of her other series as well. The best way to describe Shelter for Penelope is closure. Closure for Penelope to deal with her PTSD after being back home after being held captive for many months by ISIS. And closure for Moose as he finally get his girl Penelope. This book bought in just about every character from every book so far and gave an insight to their futures. So good to revisit everything and good to get closure on everyone. No one got kidnapped or an attempt on their lives and nothing got blown up (that was disappointing 😂😂). Thanks to Susan Stoker for years of reading enjoyment. I’m sure there’s lots to come.
The final in this series is an emotional read. We have watched Penelope slowly disintegrate over the course of the series to the surprise of no one. Watching Moose fight for, and with, her is both heartwarming and difficult. Yes, we all know everything will be okayish by the end but it doesn't make it any easier. For anyone who knows someone with PTSD understands it is a fine line that has to be tread and this story covered that well. So well actually that you feel some personal truths leaking through. Susan Stoker books are on my constant reread list and she certainly hasn't let me down this time either. Highly recommended.
Penelope’s story is the one I’ve been waiting a year for, but I wanted to do it justice by reading everyone else’s stories first which I finally accomplished a few days ago and could start on this one🤩
All I can say is it was well worth the wait and I’m so happy with how it all turned out and how Susan included both the SEALS and Delta Force soldiers that rescued Penelope in this story😍
OHMYGOSHNESS! Absolutely LOVED the final installment of the BOH series. I've been waiting (impatiently) for this book since I picked up PROTECTING THE FUTURE about 3yrs ago. You will NOT be disappointed with Pen's story. I laughed. I cried. I loved every single page.
