An Addicting Read
13 November 2018
Variant Lost is made up of the following:
• reverse harem
• college setting
• supernatural elements
• plenty of drama
• and a good dollop of angst and anguish
And it is an addicting read that will have you hungering for more.
Eve (Evie, Evelyn, E) is no stranger to secrets. Having been forced to live a life on the run, our heroine is adaptable and independent. I found her reactions, both emotionally and physically, to be realistic and her scientific mind, intriguing. The guys are all distinct in their personalities, and those personalities reflect their ages well. The different relationships between Eve and each guy varies greatly and, even though there’s a bond, nothing feels forced.
Snow has an ability to include the small details in her writing without droning on. There is a bit of a Y/A N/A feel to this book but with cursing, sexual scenes and darker topics, Variant Lost has a more mature feel. There is some angst, as I mentioned before, but it is justified and doesn’t drag on for more than needed.
Variant Lost reminded me of the Seraph Black series, but as I enjoyed that series I did not mind. I devoured Variant Lost in a matter of hours and am eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.
