Well, I’m not really surprised to say that this is another 5 star read from Autumn Grey.
What does surprise me though, is some of the choice words I have for her, after reading this book..... LOL
I have been hanging by a thread, waiting for this story to hit my Kindle. I feel like I have been teased with little snippets from Autumn for, what feels like years, but in reality has only been a few months - but still..... too long, to wait for an Autumn Grey book.
This story actually didn’t end up being like I thought it would. I had a different expectation altogether. There is some serious angst in Desolate, so if you’re not an angst fan; then this book may not be for you - but for the rest of us.... it’s amazing!
Sol is absolutely breathtaking. I adore this man with all my being, and he may just be my favourite Autumn Grey man thus far.... and that’s a big statement, if you’ve read Autumn’s other works; because as you would know, her men have set a pretty high standard.... there is something to be said for a man that is so heavily conflicted - who knew?! LOL
I spent the whole book trying to figure out which way I thought the story would play out. There was no section where “the ending was given away” or “obvious”. In the end..... well I can’t say......
This story has taken me by surprise and given me some seriously stunning feels. Autumn’s writing is, yet again, perfection. I am absolutely desperate for the next instalment in this series, so Autumn - you really need to get a move on!
This is the most torturous slow burn I’ve read in a while. Sol first met Grace when they were 10yrs old but over the next 8 yrs they haven’t really spent any time together or talked except at church. But at 13yo Sol decides he’s going to be a priest and in the Catholic Church no less so that means no wife or affairs. He soon realises that Grace is his temptation- ‘She’s my curse and my temptation, and right now, she’s the escape that could save me from this hell I’ve been locked in since I knew what it felt to want someone.’ He ends up going off to Seminary school but soon finds himself at the crossroads- does he continue his journey to become a priest and give up Grace completely or does he go after Grace and find another way to live his religious passion? ‘My heart is at war. There are choices to be made, and I can’t make them standing here.’
This book is one emotional read! I loved Sol and Grace’s story, it’s quite a journey of their relationship that we are led on. Sol wants to become a priest but Grace is his temptation and we see them both struggle with their feelings. I look forward to the rest in the series!
The only bad thing about this book was.......it ended😭😭 Sol and Grace’s story was definitely a page turner. Heartwarming, suspenseful and totally swoon worthy. Sol and his damn cap.....HAF..... I’m so excited for book 2, I have a feeling this Trilogy will stay with me forever.
