This is the first book I have read from this author but I have a few of her books waiting on my kindle to be read. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started this book, but the blurb really caught my eye and captured my attention.
Emma has not had the best life. Her back story will break your heart. She is timid, she is quiet but I liked how she kept getting stronger throughout the book. Aiden is a bit of a hunk! I totally swooned for his caring nature and his protective ways. He is pure book boyfriend material. Give me more of Aiden! Their connection to one another was really sweet. They were safe in each other’s arms, and that was beautiful to read.
The book starts pretty heavy. You start off in the world that is called Emma’s life. I was intrigued by this book and read it quickly. I do however think that I needed more back info of what was happening in the Colton and Katia situation. The book seemed to build slow at the start and then shoot out the action pretty fast. Regardless of that I did still enjoy the book. I had tears eyes in some parts, but most of it warmed my heart. This book does have trigger warnings so please make sure you go into it knowing there might be something you may not like. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
Tired of the abuse from her mother, just waiting for her trust fund allowance, Emma sets in plan to study in America and not tell her parents, her mother has told her all her life that she’s going to be a failure. Aiden wants to protect Emma, she looks so innocent and he’s on the job and doesn’t want to blow his cover. With Emma having dealt with a lot of abuse she doesn’t know how to trust or let anyone in, Aiden had never felt what he feels with Emma and knows there is something she’s not telling him, but he wants her not to feel alone anymore, she can rely on him. Realising that Aiden means more than she could ever think someone would, she knows with him being worried about his fight coming up, she can help him, but it doesn’t go as planned. Aiden promised Emma he would do everything to help her, but he didn’t see what was coming, he knows when he sees her again Emma’s broken, and he only hopes he can help her find her way back to him, before he even has time to work out how, Emma has to go home leaving an ocean between them. After everything they have been through, Aiden isn’t going to let an ocean stop him getting the woman he loves.
This book gave me all the feelings! It broke my heart and put it back together. Emma is so strong, my heart went out for her. Such poor circumstances, she gets slowly put back together with Aiden. It's a long journey, it is messy but it's everything. I cried, laughed and fell in love with this book.
