Ms Tremayne writes in a flowing style, spiked with humour. Her heroine, Veronica, takes no prisoners, and she is determined to either have what she wants or nothing. Her hero, Raphael, needs to be taught a lesson, and Veronica is the determined to give him the same lesson he gave her in the past. I'm not about to spoil the story here, but I have to say that Ms Tremayne not only keeps her characters on their toes, but she keeps the reader enthralled with her insights into the motives of each character with his or her personal revelations. Some were so sensitive and deep that this reader can admit to a tear or two.
