'Another Day in December' is certainly an emotional read. At the same time, it is highly entertaining and it grabbed my full attention from start to finish.
The atmospheric setting is Christmas time in Glasgow and the scenario is framed around one day, four main characters and the resulting effects of their interactions.
The characters are wonderfully drawn and have both qualities and weaknesses (or at least strong traits). There are a number of secondary characters playing their parts throughout, which makes the reading fairly busy, but the author has provided a helpful list of who's who at the start.
The plot/subplots are equally compelling and touching.
Shari Low's writing is articulate, thought provoking, humourous and full of imagery. I enjoy how she creates intricate threads throughout her stories, then expertly ties them all off in the conclusion. Shari is a natural story-teller and a talented contemporary author, so ADiD is well worth your time.
Absolutely loved this book. Story of family past mistakes.retribution. love and friendship .It was a very emotional book especially towards the end . Quite a few tears were shed. What I also loved was that a dying person can hear everything that's been said and his own thoughts about his life and the people around him so beautifully written there was a few funny moments as well. Highly recommend this book will definately read another book by this author
