TS901: Dominion: Command Control (TS901 Chronicles 2) Tish Thawer and Stacey Rourke
### 5 Mind Altering Hashtags ###
Whoa, where do I start ? I frigging love this series, superbly written and completely gripping.
This is the second book in this series and they do need to be read in order, this series is packed full of unexpected twists and crammed with action. I loved the first book so much that I didn’t expect this book to be anywhere near as good, I was so very wrong, this series just keeps getting better and better.
My only complaint …. I didn’t want it to end.
I also need to mention the cover is awesome ! love Gigi so much.
Once again Stacey Rourke and Tish Thawer don't disappoint. A page-turner full of drama, with a snarky heroine, full of tension and surprises and different love stories. If you like dystopian/Sci-Fi/fantasy books you will love this one. The story is enthralling, the characters are amazing! I can't wait for book three! Definetely on my reading list...
If you're looking for a science fiction book in a dystopian setting with a couple of female protagonists who can kick some butt, then you don't want to miss out on TS901: Dominion! The plot was action-packed and full of twists and turns as the uprising Thia started has grown to epic proportions. Once a leader of a small band of 'Malies ("Abnormals"), Thia is now a general in what is swiftly evolving into an all-out war between 'Malies and Naries (ordinary humans). I liked how the authors conveyed Thia's insecurities about her abilities as a leader while demonstrating that, despite those insecurities, she is a stellar leader.
As much as I enjoyed the tension-filled and exciting plot, I connected more with the characters and the revolution in its predecessor, TS901: Anamoly. The camaraderie and tolerance of the characters' unique foibles demonstrated in the previous book were replaced by what felt like backstabby in-fighting. I know it's not realistic for everybody to get along all the time but, combined with the tension between Evan and Thia, I felt it was overkill. If Thia were a real person, I would have dragged her off to the side (preferably by her hair) and told her to stop acting like a sniveling little toad and take a big dose of "Get over it."
In the previous book, Gigi came across as arrogant, overbearing, and flighty; however, in this book, we start seeing her true colors and find out there's more to Gigi than meets the eye. I think it's a shame that the authors didn't take full advantage of the opportunity to allow readers to connect with Gigi in this book the same way that they connected with Thia in the previous book.
Criticism aside, the premise and setting are incredibly compelling. The twists and action keep the plot moving forward at a good pace, and the protagonists the plot focuses on have diverse personalities and abilities. I think the fast-paced action and diverse characters will appeal to the older "young adult" crowd and younger "new adult" readers. I am excited to see what Rourke and Thawer have in store for the war that's brewing between the 'Malies and the 'Naries, and I'm looking forward to reading the third book in the TS901 Chronicles.
Wow!!! What a sequel!!! TS901: Dominion is a sequel can out-best the first book..hahaha!! Don't get me wrong, book 1, TS901: Anomaly is an amazingly fantastic introduction to a new addictive sci-fi/fantasy series. But, this sequel was fast-paced, nonstop, and action-packed!!!
So... TS901: Dominion takes place shortly after TS901: Anomaly. Yup! The Maly rebellion is happening. The characters have "grown" since the rebellion started. Then, we get introduced to new characters. Wow... What a surprising shock of the plot twist in this story! With the vivid world building, I was completely wrapped up and enraptured by what was happening to this rag-tag group of mutants determined to complete their friend. No one gets left behind, right?!?! The drama and suspense, along with the twist(s) in the storyline has got me all twisted up with apprehension at what obstacle will come up next to keep our favorite Malies from winning this rebellion.
I am just in awe at these two amazing authors on their knack to create such diverse and charismatic characters and distinct and descriptive settings. Page after page, I was whisked away into this Maly world... Yes! It is the new word for mutants!!! Step aside X-Men, Malies are here! Hahaha!!! Fans of the X-Men comics will more than likely enjoy this series. What sucks is.... the CLIFFHANGER!!! Really!?! So... When will we get book 3, Stacey, Tish!?! The suspense is killer! 😄
Wow. I don't tend to be a major fan of literature featuring cyborgs, superheros, or out-of-this-world powers, but I have to say I had a very difficult time putting this novel down (out of sheer enjoyment!). It was a quick and easy read (I read it cover to cover in the span of an afternoon) filled with events that keep you hooked the whole way; this novel also features a fairly easy-to-follow storyline (even if, like me, you haven't read the first novel yet).
Despite the fact that it is a science-fiction novel, Dominion also incorporates romance - between multiple characters - and touches on ever-present themes of community and the importance of friendship. As usual, the authors seamlessly string relatable humor into what could otherwise, at various points throughout, be seen as a rather dark storyline. If I were to compare this book to other media present in today's pop-culture, I would say it mirrors themes (and plot lines) similar to those in The Hunger Games, Deadpool, and Marvel/Avengers. While the major loose-ends are tied up at the end, I will say that there is enough happening that you'll be drawn in and left (impatiently) waiting for the next book in the series - I know I am!
An excellent addition to this fast paced sci-fi dystopian series with strong female leads, twists, and witty attitudes.
I absolutely loved the characters from book one and this one takes them up several notches while providing lots of action and laughs along the way. Anomoly introduces you to the world of Malies (abnormals) and some of the Naries (ordinaries) as it takes you on an action packed adventure. Dominion gives us what happens after the first story ends. It provides more depth to the characters we see in book one, a closer look at a few we only had glimpses of before, and a few new fantastic faces as the story continues. It is a delightful, action packed, and witty read!
Ok, I loved the first book but this one is even better! I loved that my girl Gigi got to take the lead and we learned a lot more of her backstory. I think the mark of an excellent book/series is when I have absolutely no clue as to what is coming next. For me, it feels like I am experiencing the story right along side of the characters and let's face it, predictable is boring. This book and series are perfect examples of this. The story kept me guessing right to the very end and beyond. I have no clue what will happen next and I can't wait to find out! These authors have done an incredible job with this series and this book. The writing is fantastic, the characters are amazing and the world building will blow your mind. I highly recommend this book and series!
TS901: Dominion is the 2nd book in the TS901 sci-fi/dystopian series by Stacey Rourke and Tish Thawer and it continues right where book 1 ended - so I highly recommend that you read book 1 first. Like book 1, the characters and storyline were amazing. The plot moved quickly and had some crazy twists and turns. The characters, and myself as a reader, had a hard time knowing who to trust at times. Thia is a complete badass and such a strong character. I loved her emotional interactions in this book - her worry for Gigi, her protectiveness of all the rebels, her uncertainty with Evan. And I'm really glad that Gigi took a starring role in this book. She's so snarky and such a fun character. I can't wait to read more books in this series.
What another amazing and fast paced read!! I was glued to this book from beginning to end and was so sad when I got to the end of the book in just a couple of hours.
The characters in this story were fantastic!! I was still in love with Thia, Lance, Gigi and all the rest of the crew. I also loved learning more out Gigi's mother and the new characters that were introduced into the story.
The story-line was phenomenal!! I could still see the personalities of Rourke and Thawer within the pages of this book. This book was packed full of mystery, wonder, suspense and humor all rolled into one neat little package. This is an edge of your seat read that will keep you guessing and craving more. The cliffhanger has left me wanting more!! NOW I NEED BOOK 3 PLEASE!! I highly recommend this read. Make sure to keep your hands and feet inside while reading this wild ride!!
What an amazing continuation for this series! Stacey Rourke and Tish Thawer have once again brought us into a world filled with characters that will captivate you and a story that will keep you reading and on the edge of your seat till the very end! In this one there is a full-fledged war going on between the "Mallies," led by Thia, and the "Naries." And once again, Thia and her group must face the horrors of the Hill but this time it is to rescue her best friend Gigi. What awaits them this time? You will have to read it to find out. I am really looking forward to the next one.
