Nasty is the second book in the Dirty Nasty Freaks series by Callie Hart. It continues the story we began in book #1, Dirty, so if you haven’t read that book yet I really recommend that you do- as it contains important story and character information that you will need in order to fully follow the story and enjoy it to the fullest extent. This is a dark romantic suspense, with assassins, danger, secrets, hidden agendas, action, adventure, violence, shocks, twists, disturbing scenes, murder, and mayhem. I read this book in one sitting, as I was completely addicted to the story. I had to know what would happen- so I found myself reading the series back to back. And it was sooo worth the long night!!! The story is complex and multi-layered, the characters are complicated, fully realised individuals with their own unique personalities. Even the secondary characters have been given Ms. Hart’s attention to detail and full development. The characters are somewhat quirky, interesting, and dynamic. Right from the first book, I quickly became invested in Fix and Sera, and the outcome of their story- and that doesn’t change with this instalment. I did have high expectations for this book, especially after the revelations from book one- and Ms. Hart certainly delivered everything I could have hoped for, and more! With these two, danger is never very far away and they will need to dig deep, fight, and bleed to get through everything they will encounter. Fix and Sera have sizzling chemistry and have found themselves in a fairly unusual situation- especially after Sera finds out about what Fix does and what his ‘assignment’ is/was. Fix has been drawn to Sera right from the beginning, and is determined to protect her, no matter what. So strap yourself in for an intense, action-packed, cross-country adventure that will twist and turn, and leave you on the edge of your seat. You are sure to love it just as much as I have.
So far, I have enjoyed and loved everything written by Callie Hart.
She writes the greatest anti-heroes, the sassiest heroines, and the most epic dark romances. Her heroes are always the antithesis of everything good. They're downright dangerous, ruthless and chaotic men, ready to destroy anything that stands against them. Her heroines are sassy and strong, capable of keeping themselves together, even when bad men who do bad things make them question their sanity.
In short, Callie Hart cannot do me any wrong.
I adore her unconventional, sinful characters.
I love her story-telling.
I admire her writing.
“This is what happens when you go looking for death instead of running in the opposite direction. You find it. Or, inevitably, it finds you.”
Nasty begins where Dirty ended, not interrupting the timeline.
Sera has difficult to answer questions after discovering the horrifying truth of Felix Marcosa. Though Fix has the delicate information to answer some of them, Sera's burning curiosity isn't stated. With new leads resulting in dead ends and extra layers to complicate matters further, the relationship between Fix and Sera is teetering.
“I will never break you, Sera Lafferty. What would be the point? That fiery defiance that burns inside you? I am drawn to it like a moth to a flame. I adore it. I worship it.”
Determined to uncover an anonymous threat, Fix is ready to sacrifice everything to keep Sera safe. She finds herself delving further into the dark and deadly world Fix is bound to. And she's finding it increasingly more difficult to resist Fix's sinfully erotic ways, teasing comments and cocky attitude.
During this time, we learn more about Fix and the past that still follows. Simultaneously, Sera's harrowing childhood reality surfaces and highlights her understandable need to defend herself. Her inner strength is admirable and commendable, as she is her own force, capable of maintaining Fix's chaotic whirlwind.
"I’m the thing that stands between you and the dark. I will always be standing there, bracing for the shit storm, ready to f****** defend and protect you, if that’s what you want, because you’re the most important, pivotal, vital thing that’s ever happened to me."
Nasty is dark, gritty and everything perfect. It explodes with heated chemistry, and the push and pull dynamic is delicious. Fix and Sera's relationship is intense and passionate, filled with undeniable eroticism and combustible exchanges.
There's an increased amount of action and excitement, certainly more angst and suspense as Fix and Sera worth together to eliminate their lurking dangerous threat. But in the middle of this mayhem is a beautifully blossoming relationship as Fix and Sera's feelings for each other continue to change and morph into something wonderful.
“When you’re with me, you’re not vulnerable. When you’re with me, you are safe. When you’re with me, you will never be alone. And as for your heart, Sera. I’ll make sure it’s beating too fast for you to ever feel it ache again.”
Nasty ends on another cliffhanger.
And it is the mother of all cliffhangers.
Don't let that deter you, though.
It made me squeal in excitement. Throw my hands up in frustration. Made me jump around in an incoherent dance. I know with so much certainty the third story will start with a massive freaking bang.
Fix and Sera continue their adventures together in book two of the Dirty Nasty Freaks series, which means one more book to go to get answers to all our questions! I felt it ended rather abruptly because I thought I had more left to go, but then Zeth showed up and I was left with a cliffhanger and a need for more answers:) Otherwise great chemistry between Fix and Sera and can’t wait for the final book!
There is so much to love about Nasty by Callie Hart. The charcters are amazingly unique, the story is fast and dark and the ending left me begging for more! This series is my favourite of 2018 and a must read for lovers of dark romances.
So this is book two of dirty in the Dirty Nasty freaks series. I had no time to waste after that last end of dirty. Fix always new what was coming next but falling in love with Sera was not one of them. We learn more about both of their pasts. This book also ended on a bit of a cliff as well. Looking forward to reading Freaks!
I was giddy with excitement to start Nasty after the high of reading Dirty, and I devoured it in one sitting.
We pick up just where we left off and continue Fix and Sera's adventure together. It's been over a month since I read Dirty and unfortunately the story had lost some momentum and intensity for me, so I would definitely recommend either a reread or reading Nasty straight after Dirty. Callie sure knows how to write a steamy scene and they definitely were not lacking and I managed to reclaim some of my intensity there. Another glimpse into Sera's past was heart breaking, I wanted to look away and skim read but I knew Sera deserved to have her truth acknowledged. The more we discover about Sera, the more I love the complexity and strength of her character, she is her own person and it is so appealing to read a women that isn't a push over, knows how to speak her mind and fights for what is right for her. Fix lost a bit of his humour for me (I found his quips hilarious in Dirty) but that flowed with what was occuring within the story, letting other aspects of his personality come through. He still maintained his brooding, dark and pant inducing sexiness as well as a new protective quality that suits him so well. There is a lot more questions and very few answers that go along with the mystery and intrigue, we are still just scratching the surface of who Fix and Sera are.
The cliffhanger was a little bit underwhelming for me but I know other readers will feel the complete opposite because of their prior reading experiences - I believe the WOW factor would have had much more impact with a certain history that I am not aware of.
The question now is do I read the next book when it comes out or wait for the entire series to be finished so the stories intensity never falters - I quite often prefer to read completed series for this reason as well as being impatient. It's not a question of if I will read it, just when. I'm off to explore other Callie Hart series now.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Holy S*** balls - I LOVE Callie Hart. She creates these hot gorgeous leading men that have me salivating at their dirty sexy mouths and what they get up to with them, so yep I'm talking about Felix Mendosa aka Fix and we continue with the story straight on from the last book Dirty which must be read first.
Fix and Sera are still on the road and heading into more trouble just like you would expect from Callie's books. There is never a dull moment with these pair, some of the antics they get up to and the danger they find themselves in is enough to make your toes curl, but my oh my did I love every spectacular minute of this bumpy ride. These two characters agree to disagree but they have some fantastic chemistry going on between them, Sera was even more feisty in this book and grew a pair of lady balls no less - atta girl.!! I adore Sera but Fix OMG ( drooling) I said it before and I have to say it again this man is sex on legs. The things that come out of his mouth will have you clenching your thighs together and wishing you were Sera Lafferty because I know I did. I also love the way Fix is super protective of Sera and shows that side to him all women love but yet he remains that alpha male I swoon over reading every page. Could this man get any more perfect !!!
The story is addictive, tense, exciting and still we await the next book to see what happens to them both, but the most shocking thing is THAT ENDING !!!!!!! OMG I actually yelled out loud - NO WAY !!! My heart missed more than a beat and let's just say Callie you better get that next book out as soon as freakin possible. Literally people you HAVE to start reading this series, because phenomenal is just one of the words I would use to describe the these books !!!!
Nasty by Callie Hart is the second book in her brand new series, Dirty Nasty Freaks. The series title is no lie! Felix Marcosa and Sera Lafferty are two damaged souls that meet unexpectedly in the middle of a storm at a dive motel, stranded due to the weather. The bond they form is tumultuous at best and with everything that goes down it is truly at apocalyptical levels. Their attraction to each other is palpable and the experiences they go through together bond them but there are still secrets between them despite their strong connection. and those secrets may just break them apart for good.
Told in dual POV, the story is HOT, like off the charts dirty sexy HOT. Fix is dangerous but Sera is learning that she can be just as dangerous given cause. Ending on a cliffhanger that I am on tenterhooks waiting to see how it resolves - the anticipation is killing me!!! Enjoy!
