When Katie's cousin cons her into going with her to Vegas to see her ex, Katie knows she has to go, although she's not thrilled. Her friend Darcy comes too and from the moment they arrive in Vegas, things get a little crazy. While drunk, Katie sings karaoke, something she probably wouldn't normally do, and happens to sing a song she once wrote for the boy she loved at 14. Adam who gave her hell and made her life a living misery, WHO just happens to be in Vegas too for his friend's wedding and happens to see a recording of Katie and her song she once wrote for him. He's got secrets, plenty of them, but right now, he needs to stop Lily getting to his friend Julian and not only possibly ruining the wedding but exposing him. Once Lily is contained, it's a road trip to return her home with Katie and Darcy with them. 17 hours on the road, but that becomes a nightmare when Lily escapes. This was one of my favourites of this series. Some humour and some mystery. I was always wondering what would happen next.
Katie goes to Vegas with her cousin Lily to stop Lily crashing her ex, Julian’s, wedding. Katie also invites another friend Darcy along for the ride. Surprising Katie finds out that Adam, her not so secret crush from high school, is staying at the same hotel. Mix in some alcohol and a bit of karaoke means she sings a self written song about Adam - which Adam sees. The humiliation couldn’t get much worse when Adam insists on a road trip back to Seattle to get the girls away from Julian’s wedding. Somehow nothing goes to plan and Katie and Adam spend time playing pranks on each other in the midst of falling for each other.
I love this Awkward series because every situation that each couple finds themselves in, I cannot fathom how they come about or how you would get out of it! In this case Katie goes with her cousin Lily to Vegas as she wants to speak with her ex Julian before he gets married. When they arrive Katie’s friend Darcy joins them and they go out drinking. Katie and drinking don’t really mix but add in some karaoke and it’s all downhill from there. Then Lily sends the recorded video message to Julian and inadvertently her ENTIRE contact list...oops! When they wake up the next morning, the last person they ever expected to knock on the door is Adam, oh and the video message Lily sent was all about Adam and Katie’s crush on him in school....double oops! Now they have to road trip home with Adam driving them.....super awkward:)
Loved the book and got our HEA! Thank you Missy for my advanced copy for which I leave my honest and willing review:)
Although this was book 5 in the series it is the first I've read and it was great as a standalone. 'Don't Go There' was a fun read, although frustrating at times with one character continually disappearing, the characters have more patience than I would.
Katie agrees to go to Vegas with her cousin Lilly, on the pretense that they are escaping her ex's wedding weekend. Katie finds out as they are leaving that the wedding is in Vegas, at the same hotel. Their friend Darcy turns up at the hotel, surprising them.
Trying to keep the ever disappearing Lilly away from her ex turns into an adventure with past teenage crushes, embarrassing videos, roadtrips and a totally unexpected ending.
A great fast paced read. This story has quite a few twists / turns that’ll keep you glued to your kindle. Katie and Adam are hilarious!! Their constant banter and pranks will have you giggling to yourself throughout the entire book. Really enjoyed reading this! * I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book *
Don’t go There is the 5th book in the Awkward Love series, a standalone book that will leave you in tears from laughing so much.
Katie got suckered into a girl’s weekend with her cousin, when she figures out she will be enabling her to crashing her ex’s wedding she goes about stopping her. Katie lets go, she has her job and studies and not a lot of time or desire to go out, when she is forced out for the night with some liquid courage a video is created and accidently sent out to an entire contacts list. Adam cannot believe his eyes, he is watching Katie confess her teenage love for him including an original song, when he realises that their presence could ruin his best friend’s wedding he jumps into action to save the day but starts to feel the pressure from juggling to many secrets. Will he lose everything that matters to him when the ball drops?
Katie and Adam are hilarious, their constant banter and pranks left you giggling to myself throughout the book. Their relationship turned steamy and they never looked back, giving into their feelings and letting their chemistry explode on the pages. I could not get enough of them.
Missy does not disappoint with this book and I am again left hanging for the next book the moment I turned the last page. Her minor characters are quirky and have their own loud personalities leaving me wanting to be part of their trip to Vegas.
I personally loved this book, if you are looking for a rom-com novel that leaves you in stitches this is the book and series for you. Missy has landed the jackpot with this one, I cannot wait to read the next Awkward Love book.
