Identity Crisis by Eliza Watson is a brilliant romantic suspense that swept me into a story of mystery, action, adventure, drama, chemistry, and art fraud. This was such a great read. I was so pleasantly surprised as Ms. Watson is a ‘new-to-me’ author and I really wasn’t sure what to expect from her story. But the synopsis sounded so intriguing, so I pounced on it! I loved the ‘art fraud’ aspect of the storyline- I thought that was a bit of an original touch. There was so much to like about this book and I am so happy I took the plunge. I will definitely be adding Ms. Watson to my ‘must read’ author list. Olivia Doyle was already hurting from the death of her beloved father- but then she discovers a whole web of lies, and a life she never even knew. His past emerges- one of art forgery, the mafia, witness protection, estranged family, deception, and so much more. Her world has turned upside down, and her business and life are now in jeopardy too. When danger comes for her, Olivia finds herself on a journey to her past- with a very sexy US Marshal along for the ride. But there is much more to the situation than she has figured out, there are plots afoot- so who can she really trust? Will Ethan be able to keep them both safe? This story really is worth the read to find out all the thrilling details! This is told from several points of view, so we get a lot of information and perspectives to think about. The story is gripping- with emotional moments, and a wonderful romance. The ending was perfect!
I enjoyed this story. The initial premise - finding out that you were not who you thought you were - attracted me to the book, and the author did a good job handling the situation. Olivia and Ethan both found it very hard to trust for different reasons, and the attraction between them combined with distrust made for an interesting relationship. The plot was complicated and well-resolved.
