Keaton and Slate have been best friends forever. Well, around 10 years. She's serious and a workaholic. He's more a good time kind of guy after being in a disastrous relationship years ago that left him determined to not get involved seriously again. After discovering she sucks at sucking, Keaton asks Slate to give her some tips on being a better lover. I think we all know how that will end. It doesn't take long for them to discover that there is a lot of chemistry between them and what started out as one friend helping another, became more. Thoroughly enjoyed this story.
I really love Kendall Ryan's books and this one is another little treasure from her. One of my favourite genre's of best friends to lovers, this book is witty, sweet, passionate and a wonderful read and the characters extremely charismatic and easy to connect to.
Slate and Keaton, wow what a great pair to read. I loved Keaton, she is nerdy but smart and she has known Slate for years, they are the best of friends and have known each other for years. They are extremely comfortable in each others company so when Keaton thinks she needs some help in the bedroom department thinking she is not experienced enough to hold down a boyfriend, she confides in Slate; after all he is her best friend.
Kendall deals with the matter as she always does in the most magical way. There were many awkward funny moments, many sweet moments, and moments that were laugh out loud. Slate was a lovely man who had a few light bulb moments in this story which was a delight to read. I also liked that this whole book was literally just focused on them as friends and their developing relationship, secondary characters were there and enjoyable but were definitely in the background and in this book I thought this worked really well.
A terrific story that should be read, Kendall has done it again with these two adorable characters that I just couldn't get enough of !!!
Keaton and Slate have been best friends for ten years since they met in college. They have the easy camaraderie that all best friends do; they text and hang out with each other, watch movies together, get each other out of sticky situations at bars and nightclubs. Her grumpy old cat, Penny, loves Slate but hates everyone else, including Keaton. When Keaton decides that she could use some tutoring in the bedroom, she draws up a spreadsheet – which works best for her analytical mind – and turns to her best friend for help. He knows all about women and sex; he’s been a player for years.
Slate was badly burned by an ex and made a decision that he would not contemplate a serious relationship again, because he doesn’t want to risk getting his heart broken again. When Keaton asks for his help to teach her how to be a better lover, he’s hesitant at first, but sure that their friendship will survive this new twist as it has everything else life has thrown at it.
What follows is two people falling down the rabbit hole and falling for each other without them even realising it. Predictably, the change in the nature of relationship causes ripples and they both come to wonder if they have made the right decision. When something bad happens in Keaton’s life, she turns to Slate, and his sweet gesture made me smile.
I adore best friends to lovers romances, and this book both made me laugh so hard the people at my bus stop thought I was crazy (there is one line that had me in fits of laughter for about twenty minutes). It also made me cry in one spot. I adore Kendall Ryan’s books, and this one is no exception. If you love a good romance book, don’t miss this one!
Kendall Ryan has had some major hot covers lately and this one is no exception. It’s seriously drool worthy.
Love Machine has been another sweet, fun and sexy friends to lover’s story by Kendall. I am a little over the Friends to Lovers theme though at the moment it seems to be the current trend and nearly every second book I read has a similar storyline.
In saying that though, what makes Kendall’s stories so enticing is that you know they will always be well written, entertaining and not too heavy. They always make for a good pick me up and feel good read. I love the humour she puts into her dialogue and she certainly has a way with words.
Keaton and Slate have some undeniable hot chemistry, Slate was so perfect!!I loved his character and. Keaton however took some warming up to but in the end, I was satisfied with their cute HEA.
It is no secret that Kendall Ryan is my go-to author for light, sweet and fluffy romance. Some would consider her stories repetitive, but to me it is a sure thing guaranteed. I know what to expect. I know I will have something wholesome awaiting.
She’s also somehow converted me to friends-to-lovers. Perhaps my least favourite trope. Ever. Because it is too cute and airy and frilly and fancy. But after reading dark, twisted romances, or stories that didn’t enthrall me, sometimes witnessing a friendship blossom into something sweet is needed!
"The embers of attraction were always there, I’ve come to realize. All it took was one little kiss to blow on the ashes and make them roar to life."
Post embarrassing encounter during her friend’s bachelorette party, Keaton is feeling dejected. She’s intelligent and confident within her working environment, but she feels inside the bedroom she’s lacking few too many skills.
Using much loved spreadsheets to organise a list and enlisting her long term best friend, Slate, during a drunken night of texting, Keaton is determined to become a confident woman amongst the sheets.
But not everything is as easy or as simple as it seems, especially when intense emotions become involved, and both Keaton and Slate are left questioning themselves. While Slate is determined to prove to Keaton that he is interested in settling down, Keaton would rather maintain their close friendship.
"I'm drunk on the sight, the sound, the scent of her, how stunning she is in her passion. And when our eyes meet, a wave of tenderness and desire threatens to drown my heart."
Despite having been best friends since college, Keaton and Slate have never been attracted to each other. Not until Keaton requests Slate become her “sex tutor”, anyway. It seemed awfully strange to me that they never shared this mutual attraction until they decided to cross the friendship boundary.
I also couldn't ignore Slate's reason for becoming a womaniser. One bad relationship, no matter how long or short it lasted, shouldn't be enough to taint someone's view on dating.
Besides those two negatives, I still enjoyed this sweet, fast-paced read.
I loved Slate and Keaton. There story was romantic, delicious and so real life. I loved the banter between them it made you fall in love with them. I wanted more it was so good. Kendall doesn't disappoint yet again, in this friends turned lovers romance with sexy scenes, heartfealt moments and laughter. you what to devour each page until you reach the very end!
