Fellow readers this is a wonderful story... Hardened by a troubled youth and determined to care for his family, Quinn Wentworth has worked his way to considerable wealth and power and means to keep it that way....then he’s brought down by an unknown enemy who has him judged and tried for murder, a murder he didn’t commit... Whilst awaiting his death in prison, this rather extraordinary hero cares for those around him and even offers marriage to Jane Winston, a widow fallen on hard times. Despite her fears Jane accepts his offer as she can only believe that she’ll by way of this act save herself and her child from a life of penury and struggle. End of story? No way, it seems that Quinn is a Duke and we can’t be killing off Dukes can we...well almost ...so pay attention and follow Grace’s deft and wonderfully crafted storytelling all the way to the HEA... I promise you’ll love it as much as I did.
I enjoy anything written by this author but I would rate this as one of her best books. The characters are not perfect, and their development subtle, but all the more real for that. The plot intriguing -I had to keep turning the pages until the end to solve the mystery.
I received a copy of this book via NetGalley and the publishers for an honest review. I love a Grace Burrowes book at anytime. I can say I have read many of her great books and, she always give the reader a lovely strong Heroine and a Hero who is ready to go the extra mile for a damsel in distress. Well with the hero and heroine in My One and only Duke, readers who love a rags to riches story and a women in distress along with the Hero about to be hanged for a crime he did not commit and a Heroine who is pregnant and ruled over by a pious preacher father than you will enjoy reading this story. I will not give away anymore of the great plot but I will say Grace Burrowes you sure do write a great story, one which anyone reading this review will realise that Yes I really enjoyed reading this book and I highly recommend it to other readers.
