This is the book I wish I'd read in my 20's when I was trying to figure stuff out and didn't have the people around me to back my bold ideas. I felt strange and alone. This is the book I wish I'd read in my 30's when I was raising a young family and leading an organisation with a global mission. I felt passionate and exhausted. This is the book I wish I'd read in my 40s when I was running large teams and achieving big things. I was not as kind to myself as I could have been. Now in my 50's I'm so glad this book has been written! Emma's wisdom, empathy, clarity, no BS and sheer lust for life is inspiring and galvanising. Winging it is such an important book for women at every age.
So many business books these days read like a highlight reel.... it this one. It’s REAL. Emma tells her journey with the good the bad and the ugly, and her brutal honesty makes it all the more relatable and inspiring.
As a single parent of 3 running a business I so appreciated the practical tips on “doing it all” (spoiler alert, you can’t).
In amongst the humility of describing failures in equal measure to success, there was SO MUCH GOLD about leadership, parenting, running a business, strengths based leadership and life.
Honestly this is one of the best books I have read in the last 5 years! Its so honest and gives you real life examples that can be applied to every day life on how to just go forward and 'Wing it!'. After I read it I went out and bought five copies for my closest girlfriends, it truly doesn't matter if you are a entrepreneur or work for a big corporation. If you are looking for a bit of motivation to move forward on the next step in life, then this book is for you.
I couldn’t put down this book down. Hugely motivational & resonated with every cell in my body as a working mum and small business owner. The juggle (and struggle) is real but Emma proves that while the going may be tough at times, you can still kick goals with kindness, grace and most importantly, fun!! And you don’t need to be an entrepreneur to take something away from this read. You will not regret buying this book!
"Winging It" has to be one of my most high-lighted books on my kindle... so many nuggets of wisdom within this gorgeous book! Emma gives practical advice regarding career, building a business and/or a community, entrepreneurship, networking and general life and also provides a few "Ah-ha!"'s and a few amusing anecdotes! You'll power through this book and be wiser for it!
This was a fabulous read. Inspiring, practical and genuine. We need more female CEOs and founders to share their stories like this one. I know I will be going back to this one often for feedback and encouragement. Well done Emma - you're a true inspiration!
Emma’s book is full of the same energy and spirit she has. With huge enthusiasm and a keeping-it-real tone, “Winging It” is honest, full of warmth and encouragement, with some serious wisdom, business strategy and actionable tips thrown in. Love it!
Winging It is easy to read, insightful, inspiring and thought provoking. I loved it! Women approached me on the train to ask about it and we connected in brief, honest conversations and we bonded because we are all winging it!
