Mistake of Magic has exactly the right amount of fast paced action, steamy heat scenes, and plot to satisfy the majority of fantasy fans. Starting a few days after the events in The Power of Five, Mistake of Magic sees Lera and her four quint mates reaching their destination: the citadel - da dum.
I have to say this to get it off my chest and out of the way: Mistake of Magic reminded me a lot of Trickery from the Curse of the Gods series by Eve and Washington. But that is okay, Lidell’s series is still wholly unique and I love them both anyway. I think it was more the setting and the trials that struck that familiar chord. However, as I said, Lidell has created a world that is unique and I absolutely love it. Lidell’s writing is flawless and her characters are diverse and full of life. The multiple POV’s between Lera and the guys just helps to add a little bit extra into the story.
If the first book had a little heat then this one is smokin’. The intensity and emotions between Lera and the guys notch up into dangerous territory and gives us a steamy scene or two. Just like the first book, Mistake of Magic isn’t overly long at just 216 pages, but it is a brilliant all engaging read and I cannot wait until the third book comes out.
Love it! This was a fantastic follow on from the first book. Picking up where book 1 left off, Lera and the rest of her quint are headed to the Citadel where they will affirm their vows. But nothing could be that easy for them! Someone in the Citadel is playing games - setting them up to face the trials as if they were a green quint, with the trials and situations tampered with in an attempt to make them fail. To top it off, someone is also still trying to rid them of Lera. As she continues to learn more about her fae quint, she just might be the one that pulls them closer together after their decade of devastation following the death of Shade's twin, Kai. River, Coal, Tye and Shade aren't expecting the revelations about Lera - especially when Autumn arrives with some interesting finds from her research.
Once again the storyline is intriguing and captivating - this book was over far too quickly for my liking. The characters are intricate, complex and likeable - even the supposed antagonists have likeable qualities and we see a bit behind their motives as well. There is definitely something bigger going on that I expect will be revealed in the next book.
I’m loving this series. Found Alex Lidell through a book club recommendation and I’ve become absorbed into this series. Really looking forward to the next book coming in January to see how this all unfolds. Well written, great characters who hold you, a really good storyline. This is a great series
I loved this book. The interactions between all the characters were full of intrigue and was engaging. I'd really like to see the 5 show everyone just how good they are. The little tidbits about the guys history are interesting. Can't wait to read more
Absolutely loved book two in this series and can not wait till the third book is out. Very well written, a little short for me, but I love loooong books, regardless this was a brilliant read and I urge you to buy and have a read.
