‘The Coordinates of Loss’ by Amanda Prowse is a heart-breaker of a novel. Once again she draws out intense human emotions and writes a story where ordinary people have something horrible happen to them.
James and Rachel had it all - they loved one another, woke smiling every day. James had a lucrative job with year round surf and sun on the island of Bermuda, where they had a wonderful old house and an awesome housekeeper/caregiver, CeeCee, and an adorable seven year old son Oscar.
However one day when Rachel goes to wake Oscar, up one morning to discover he is not in his bunk on their small yacht. He was not anywhere on the boat and as they out at sea it is unthinkable what’s happened. And the world they knew, the life they had so taken for granted, immediately falls apart.
How the people and family around them act, how they themselves try to build a new life while drowning in pity & sorrow.... Can their relationship sustain the pain...
This is a story that is heartbreaking, we feel Rachel’s pain and learn CeeCee’s story too... Amanda Prowse once again gives us a tear jerker that keeps us turning the pages.
