I've just reread this Novel by Harper Bliss for the fifth time at least.
I adore 'At The Waters Edge'. I think you get such a sense knowing the characters personally. I got rather invested in the happiness of both Lead heroines, hoping and praying that they would make it through rough circumstances to a HEA.
I love how brave Harper Bliss is about tackling Mental Health or Emotional issues. She has done this in few of her novels. She seems finds a issue that in our society is not the norm and give you a better sense of understanding it and in turn normalises the subject.
She definitely one of my favourite F/F Romance authors.
Stop reading this review and go by the book.... 5+ stars ....
Harper Bliss writes with so much depth and engagement. Her books offer more than 'a light read' to be scanned quickly and to be forgotten immediately. 'At the Water's Edge' is another outstanding effort. A story to be remembered and 're read again and again as are so many of her books.
I'm loving Harper Bliss more and more with each book I read. The characters could be people you know stories you have heard in real life. The fact that this book was so emotionally raw could be felt through every turn off the page. Beautifully written and thought out.
This is NOT the typical Harper Bliss drama. Don't get me wrong, all the heat we have come to know and adore is there and then some but this saga is so emotion driven! It is intense, strong, hard and weak, tender and tearful. It is more than wonderful....
Told in the first person we are able to see through Ella's eyes, experience the decisions that have brought her to West Water and the ones she makes after. We get to sense her falling in love, to forgive, to accept and finally to heal. It is a beautiful journey towards living.
This is a just so much more than a romance novel. It is a multi-dimensional, thought provoking, powerful and just excellent showcase of Ms. Bliss' talent and I for one am so grateful for the chance to experience it.
