In a Heart of Shame, as well as the suspense side of the story, we also see Sawyer struggling emotionally with her past and her guilt over her actions. She doesn't feel as though she is worthy of love.
However - she has her 5 guys that she is living and working with, and her attraction to all of them is undeniable. Quinn is my favourite - he is so wild, he has that untamed air about him, he is so close to his wolves Shade and Scout. Elijah plays the part of the fun loving cowboy, Vincent is the serious guy. Zander and Jasper are the besties from her teen years, before life changed and she became the much feared Assassin.
While relationships and feelings are starting to solidify in this instalment, the team also gets sent to Texas and are confronted with murders, religious fanatics and a serial killer on the loose. Another great read, I'm diving straight into book 3.
I was on such a rollercoaster of emotion in this one, I laughed and I cried and I was sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happened next and dying to see when something would finally happen with Sawyer and the guys. Quite a few things broke me in this book, the real flaws the characters have and how it affects them is heart wrenching, it makes you feel what the characters are feeling, their shame, their embarrassment, their pain, their fears and also their happiness. I love following the relationships Sawyer has with each of the guys and how the guys help Sawyer start to see that she is good and that she shouldn’t regret what she had done in the past, and I love that she is also able to help them with their past and move forward. The relationship with Sawyer and her guys starts heating up and the relationships she has with each guy strengthens as she learns more about them and their past. Love this book and I am left wanting more.
This second installment really got into more of the background and storyline of the team and gave us more history on all of them individually. I must say Quinn is by far my favourite simply because he is just adorable trying to navigate the human world, oh and he is also yummy. I really liked how the romance is a slow burn in this novel, where its not really the thing to have multiple partners but they decide it's for them and do it anyway. I would totally recommend this book to RH lovers, but also just romance/fantasy freaks as well.
