In this second book we pick up the storyline about four years later, which means Cettie and Sera are now sixteen years old. So many complications arise for both of them that see them torn apart, each facing their own challenges. They struggle to find the strength to overcome their fears and find their true path. Sera’s life becomes more difficult when she faces the ultimate betrayal and the life she had envisioned slips from her grasp. Cettie’s true heritage is still in question, but she doesn’t let that stand in the way of the person she has become. The story continues to reinforce the struggles that everyone faces in life to face their fears overcome their adversities, and how each outcome shapes their life and those around them. Looking forward to seeing how each character develops in the next book.
I really enjoyed this book and will continue to read in the series. Like all good fantasy, it is close enough to our world to be relateable but with enough curiosities and differences to exercise the mind.
There is similarities to the Kingfountain series which is good if you have read them, if not this is an opportunity to look for the series to read. Overall the plot is changing and keep the reader involved through out.
