This is so much more than a RomCom... Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward are wonderful writers on their own but something special happens when they collaborate. Once again they have created a wonderful romance with substance and heart. ‘Hate Notes’ was a slow-burn romance letting Charlotte and Reed’s relationship build from friendship and trust to finally acting on their ever evolving chemistry.
The story begins when Charlotte finds a love note inside a wedding dress and eventually tracks down the author of the note however he is not the sweet romantic she assumed but a pessimistic, condescending a-hole. As w start to things through his POV we see that he is a complex character and he clearly is hiding something. Reed is such a complicated character. His internal struggle about what he thinks he deserves or doesn’t deserve is heartbreaking.
Charlotte however is amazing. Her optimism was infectious her enthusiasm for life was infectious. Her banter with Reed was so much fun to read yet when things get serious and the secret is revealed you realise she is a kind, strong wonderful woman.
I wouldn’t dream of ruining this journey for you but definitely read this incredible book... the cover or title don’t do it justice... it’s utterly amazing...
