I was almost peeing myself with laughter with our lovelies meet cute in 4th and Girl (you will understand when you have read this book why).
After the dark read I had just finished, this light, fun and adorable story was just what I needed.
Max Monroe have not disappointed me yet with their stories, and Leo and Gemma's story was all kinds of cute and adorable and funny.
I liked that Leo wasn't all about the football, loved that he had his head on straight and was thinking about the "what ifs" of his career and was also doing something about it.
Gemma - I felt for her as she was kind of floundering in life, however I got frustrated with her as I wanted her to push herself and not worry about what her family would think. I was all "girl, you say you are an adult and can make your own decisions, but you aren't"
Also, I want to be Alma when I grow up - don't want to spoil anything but lord that woman is funny!
I loved that this was drama free - no OTT, stupid actions or miscommunications. Our lovelies are adults and acted like it.
I didn't want the Mavericks series to come to an end, but now that leaves more time for Max and Monroe to write us new guys to fall in love with.
Finally! Book #4 in the Mavericks Tackle Love series has arrived and they’ve saved the best for last with this story. Leo Landry is the first round draft pick and the Mavericks newest recruit. The fateful day he meets the woman of his dreams is the day that Gemma Holden turns up to her temping job to find she’s doing something she’s not supposed to do given she has absolutely no training and most certainly isn’t qualified for... Leo sees a gorgeous blond, petite and insanely cute, clumsy and quirky girl. During their brief interaction she catches his eye. And just as suddenly as she appears, she disappears. This isn’t great for him because his first season with the Mavericks when he needs to be focussed and concentrating solely on his football, he just can’t seem to focus. He knows she’s out there, he just doesn’t know where. Once he tells his new team mates and friends Cam Mitchell and Sean Phillips about the girl who got away, they concoct a brilliant plan to help find her... Meanwhile Gemma is doing various temping jobs since dropping out of an engineering degree because she doesn’t want to die of boredom. Her dreams and passion lie with music, but even though she knows this she hasn’t figured out yet exactly what to do about it, so until then she is temping. And her days just got a lot more interesting since she started temping for 80 year old Alma with her online shop. Nothing about this job and Alma are predictable, and Gemma loves that. And as it turns out this temping job just might be the thing to bring Leo and Gemma closer together...
This is my first Max Monroe book, and it wont be my last. It was a quick, fun read told in dual POV and I had it finished in a day. It is light, little to no angst and plenty of sweet sweet romance.
The Mavericks Rookie is keen to get off the training field, do the random drug test and hit the showers. Little did he know that he was about to meet the quirky, buttered fingered nurse aid that will haunt his thoughts for the months to come. As fate would have it, he finds her again in the least likely of places. This time Leo will not let her out of his sight! As for Gemma, being Alma's assistant isn't life fulfilling but it is very interesting indeed! All she needs is a little push, or maybe a big one, to help her through her anxieties and live out her dreams.
This is a standalone novel in a series, and at no point did I feel left out not having read the others. Although, it did give us a little background of the other couples, and I am now interested to go back and read those too. There is a pleasing epilogue that brings the story to a very happy ending. Fans of Max Monroe and the Mavericks will be delighted with this one.
As usual with Max Monroe, this was a fun and fast read. Leo and Gemma's tale begins in the most awkward of ways, and things only get funnier from there. Once they finally reconnect after their weird initial meeting, and they get past some awkward nerves on their first date, these two really open up to each other and are a really sweet couple.
Throw in Leo's Nonna, and you're in for some hilarious moments. That woman is a cracker of an old geezer and was definitely one of the main stars of this story.
The ending of this was just perfect as well. I literally laughed out loud at the perfection of it.
Fast, fun, sweet, this was a great read and if you're a Max Monroe fan you definitely want to jump on this one.
As far as romcoms go, Max Monroe have it nailed. Leo Landry is the rookie football player for the Mavericks who just wants to do his best this first year and fit in. That is until he has to take his required urine drug screen test. Gemma Holden has been working temp jobs after dropping out from her college degree. The temp agency gets her to fill a medical assistant position knowing that she’s not qualified. Cue blue eyes meeting even bluer blue eyes and hilarity ensues. Throw in a bff who randomly shows up, football players that like to gossip, a date night at a drag club, random sex toys and a crazy Nonna and you’re in for the ride of your life.
Book 4 in the Mavericks Series. 4th & Girl is new rookie Leo's story. A page turner from start to finish. A disastrous first meeting but Leo can not forget Gemma, not that he knows her name!!! Gemma cannot forget that meeting for another reason and the laughs continue as these two make their way. A fantastic read as always from Max Monroe. Great writing, characters and laugh out loud moments. I loved it!
Love Max Monroe books and this was another great one in the Maverick series. Leo was just swoon worthy and Gemma was hilariously awkward but what a fantastic couple. The person who stole the show though was the make you laugh out loud, fiesty Alma. A really enjoyable read.
And the fabulous duo did it again! Max and Munroe did not disappoint with Leo and Gemma! Definite knock-it-outa-the-Park with their meet-cute! First date to rival none and the best Nonna out there. Lots of goofy smiles on my face while reading, you will not regret picking this story up. Definite 5 stars from me!
