Wow, where do I start my review after reading this incredible book? Derailed is the 2nd book in the Off Track Records series. If I thought Detour was an excellent book, Derailed is even better! This was such an emotional packed read, i needed a few tissues to get me through this one.
Jess is such a beautiful broken girl. Her story is so incredibly heartbreaking, I teared up more than once during her story. Sean is such a sweetheart! I loved his character so much, he is swoon worthy. The love he has for people is outstanding and he isn’t afraid to show it. He isn’t your usual arrogant rockstar, always drunk and out with women. I adore Sean and Jess together! Their feelings for each other are seen right from the start, I loved the anticipation of wondering what might happen next between them. Every character in this novel was so beautifully written, In fact this whole story was so well written. However, I disliked Coy VERY much! I loved that the storyline contained real life issues, a lot of these issues are usually swept under the rug or hidden from us. These issues should be talked about, and I loved that Kacey has included them in her story. The book brought so much emotion out of me, I cried more than once. Tissues were definitely needed after chapter 26!! I seriously can not wait for Austin’s story, in fact I need it right now! If you haven’t read a book from Kacey as yet, or if you haven’t read this series, you need to go out and grab them now! You need Kacey’s incredible writing in your life, you NEED this series! I can not wait for more!
Derailed by Kacey Shea is Book 2 in the Off Track Records series. It's a forbidden rockstar romance with plenty of hotness and drama. I do have to make special mention of this books cover. I love it so much, the more I look at it the more I love it. I reserve 5 star ratings for those books that I personally wouldn't change any part of, and that's exactly what this book does for me. I wouldn't change anything about this book at all. It has perfect characters from Sean and Jess as the leads to the other band members as supports and it tells such a great story of longing for what you can't have. I'm so glad that Sean got his own book even though finding his perfect person was not an easy one but one that was worth it in the end. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.
I came across this book by accident and after reading the first page I was hooked. I loved Jess and Sean. Jess was such a courageous character who didn’t realise her own strength. Sean was kind and considerate and truly the perfect book boyfriend. Their story took me on a roller coaster of emotions and I spent the whole book rooting for them and especially for Jess. I would highly recommend this book.
I’d read Detour last year (and loved it) and then kicked myself realising I’d missed the release of Derailed! (Gah!!) There was only one thing for it, I cleared my day ignoring housework etc and dove straight in. Oh Sean and Jess!! My heart hurt for Jess, she certainly had it rough but I’m so pleased she found her HEA with Sean. (I’ve always had a soft spot for him!) Their story had it all and I loved every word of it! Can’t wait for Hinder! I need it!!
Jessica Moore a young woman accustomed to going without, happy to be the cheerleader for the dreams of others. Her boyfriend knows this and swoops in taking full advantage, leaving her feeling beholden, starving, and yearning for attention he'll never provide.
Sean Willis plays for the team. He believes in his band and each member. The blood runs deep and he won't break those ties. However, his new bandmate arrives with a lifestyle and moral code that sends warning flags up from the start. Sean can deal with a jerk but his girlfriend a sweet thing inside and out creates a bit of a challenge for Sean and his own family code of ethics.
Kacey Shea pens the heart of a hero and the fair maiden nicely in Derailed. Sean the rock star plays the roll on stage, but his head and heart behave different out of the spotlight. He feels for the situation Jess finds herself in and he knows a snake in the grass when he sees one. Shea sprinkles the right amount of vim and vigor into Sean making him a hero every reader roots for. On the other hand, Jess fights for everything she works for, and the need to make the world root for her once in her life keeps her spirit alive. She knows the higher road, but Shea creates her in a way the audience sits hand in hand with Jess on her journey. Sean and Jess are a must read!
This book gives you the story of Three Ugly Guys bassist Sean Willis and how he falls for a woman who’s already taken. Jessica Moore has really low self esteem and puts up with her mostly verbally abusive bf, Coy. They moved from Denver to LA so that Coy can fulfill his dream of becoming the drummer for a band. Coy hits it big time by getting a temporary gig with 3UG while the drummer is in rehab. The chemistry between Sean and Jess is palpable from the moment they meet but she’s taken. I must admit that the verbal abuse was a bit difficult for me to read/listen to and I did have to take breaks. That said, this is a great story that addresses various types of abuse. Well written book. Can’t wait for the next book! I accepted a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
Sean and Jess broke my heart, y'all. This book has so many emotions, and I was rooting from the beginning that these two would get the hea that they so deserve. When we meet Jess, to say she is in a bad way is an understatement. Her boyfriend is the worst type of man there is, being not only emotionally manipulative and abusive, but physically abusive as well. Her boyfriend joins 3UG, and while it seems like the rest of the band believes he fits in perfectly, Sean has a gut feeling that this guy is no good. This becomes more apparent as the book goes on, and towards the end, you will want to cheer when you find out what happens to him. I loved the natural progression of Sean and Jess's love. While he was dealing with his emotions of falling in love with his new band mates girl, she was trying to keep the one bit of happiness that she's ever had. I loved how gentle Sean was with her after all she's been through. She couldn't have asked for a better man to fall in love with. One who is actually good, and is everything a man should be. Read this book, y'all. And have tissues ready!
Make sure you have time to finish this book because once you pick up it you won't be able to stop reading until the end! Sean and Jess's story is full of self discovery, friendship, sexual tension, loyalty and a HEA that will spontaneously make you cry and smile. The newest drummer to the band and his girlfriend join the band on a tour. Sean and Jess (the drummer's girlfriend) strike up a friendship. As Sean becomes more and more drawn to Jess, he tries to fight the feelings and keep things in the friend zone. When he becomes aware of the abusive relationship Jess is in, he must decide if his feelings for Jess override the needs of the band. I received an advanced readers copy of this book and highly recommend it and loved it so much I purchased it too!
