This was the best book I have read about the Royal Family because so many people who actually live and work with Charles and Camilla were interviewed. And it is the dirty stories they tell this time, especially their many disgruntled ex employees. Everyone who has ever been asked for a donation to one of their charities should read this first. It is a very honest book and made perfect sense to me. Like why they visit our little country every year the week before the Melbourne cup, which they always attend. Last year the Govt posted in the paper the cost to the taxpayer for this little junket which was almost $500,000. The future of the commonwealth is explained here as well. Don't pass this book by.
He is an embarrassment to himself, his family and the countries he will supposedly reign over. His spin doctors have tried as he hired and dismissed them as were his advisors. I got lost in the detail at times but a good read.
Sadly we may see the end of the Monarchy in my lifetime.
Queen Elizabeth, the young woman who promised to serve her people for all her life still holds a place in our hearts. Her marriage was not easy but unlike her daughters in law she maintained her dignity because her duty was to her people. That is what being the Queen means. It was never meant to be easy.
There is no one to take her place. Now more than ever before we have access to every detail of the royal family’s lives. They are not inspiring people. No longer can we look at them with respect.
I believe Charles will be the most remarkable Prince of Wales the world will ever see. There will never be another Prince of Wales as significant as he is. Not simply because there may not be another Prince of Wales but because he refused to be irrelevant. He works tirelessly to make his mark on the world. He is ahead of his time and history will see him through kinder eyes than ours.
Marrying the wrong girl was the least of his sins. No one would be capable of producing a successful marriage with someone as damaged and flawed as Diana.
To be The King you must give up your life. Charles has never even contemplated or understood that sacrifice. As a man he is arrogant and lacks empathy and loyalty. His sense of entitlement would never allow him to put his people first.
This book clearly sets out to destroy Prince Charles and his wife. The claims which Bower makes, appear to be the vengeful retaliation of disgruntled "insiders" more than the truth. I have no doubt that Charles can be petulant, cranky and privileged - but don't we all from time to time? This book would appear to be a determined and sustained effort to discredit Prince Charles and help his former wife, whose eye-rolling, simpering "confessions" achieve sainthood.
The writing was okay, but much of the content was unbelievable. This book would seem to have been written for sensationalism and money.
