Strong and likable characters, a bit let down by at times slightly weak unbelievable storyline

Psychic Nora Jacobs has had a unhappy life being in foster care from a young age and subject to the unwanted attentions of all sorts of people. What's worse is that she can read people's thoughts just by touching them and can tell without being touched if someone is wishing her extreme harm. Xavier, her unpleasant neighbour, is determined to conquer Nora and in desperation to get away from him she allows him to take her to an underworld nightclub where she manages to ditch him but comes to the unwanted attention of all sorts of otherworldly creatures - trolls, werewolves, vampires etc. Now that the underworld knows she exists they are not going to let her get back to her life in the real world any time soon but can she learn to live with that?
The characters in this book are good and I really want to find out what happens to them next and the writing is quite good too although some bits of the book are a bit wordy and drag on a bit.
What I found I couldn't believe is that a traumatised woman would overcome her trauma so readily and learn to trust all these different people so quickly. It felt like lip service was paid to her trauma rather than that it was a real issue that she needs to work at overcoming. And the slow burn reverse harem thing felt like a miscategorisation. There was really no romance and it feels like all these men in the book are all wanting to be her big brother and that that's what she wants as well. Romance really needs at least two to tango and Nora didn't really feel much for any of these characters. It was also a bit hard to work out who we are meant to be rooting for at first and there were no fully drawn female characters for Nora to interact with. For someone who has spent her whole life trying to avoid men, I would've thought she'd have at least one good female friend or maybe that she would meet someone in this story who could fill that role rather than meeting only men and falling into almost instant friendship with all of them.
There is enough in this book to make me want to read the next one though as the characters were fun but I hope that the next story is a bit stronger and that the relationships are a bit more believable.
