Surprise Daddy is a stand-alone romance written by Nicole Snow. This story tells a tale full of secrets, darkness and finding the light at the end of a very dark tunnel.
Sadie is a 21 year old med student who is home from school to help care for her sick mother. She is a shy young women, who cares deeply for everyone around her. Marshal is a brooding, angry, hulk of a man who is the towns outcast. He is a single father to his daughter, and under his rough brutish exterior is a man who has a heart of gold and would do anything for the ones he loves.
This story didn’t quite catch my interest in the first 25% of the book, and there were a couple of times I thought I may not finish reading it but at about the 30% mark things within the story started to capture my interest. It turned into a dark romance, with secrets plaguing a few of the characters. I also didn’t feel a connection between the characters until well into the book, after the 35% mark I started to feel a spark between them. I couldn’t connect with the main female character, I felt she was a little immature in ways. I understand she is only 21 but her family seemed to walk all over her and she hardly stuck up for herself, being 21 I would assume she would realize she is an adult and can do what she likes. From half way through the story I started to enjoy reading it. I really loved Mia and her cat Whiskey. I quite liked Marshal as well and the changes he went through in the story. The love scenes between the characters were quite steamy and you have got to love a little dirty talk. I look forward to reading more from Nicole Snow.
firstly my thanks to the author for a review copy in return for an honest opinion. there were of course, things that i didn't like but the things that i did enjoy made it a great story and overshadowed those. i really liked the male and female leads and i loved the plot. lots of very dark emotions and feelings, lots of angst. i really felt strongly for Stephanie Kelley and i was glad for the resolution on that front. great reading from my point of view
