4.5 Star: half star lost due to some of the cons listed below.
Great little device for connecting a variety of controllers to your Nintendo Switch. Allows connection of non-Nintendo controllers to the Switch.
Pros: - enables use of some PlayStation, Xbox and Wii U controllers on your switch. For a full compatibility list refer to the manual on the 8bitdo website - can also be used on PC - updateable firmware - no latency experienced on connected devices - great way to play local multiplayer with other controllers around the house - acceptable build quality - nice mario brick aesthetic - decent sized pairing button - price
Cons: - connecting to PC/MAC for updating firmware was slightly confusing. Open 8bitdo update tool on your PC/MAC then ensure you are holding down the pair button as you physically connect adapter to PC/MAC USB port so it is recognised by the update tool. Refer to manual for more details. - connecting controllers can be a little tricky, however refer to manual on how to connect different controllers to adapter. - can really only properly use one controller at a time with adapter - form factor is a little too large to plug in the back of the switch dock - light blinks even when Switch is off - does not come with and OTG cable to connect device to switch undocked
