I had a cheap shredder a couple years ago, it had no safety mechanism, it shredded paper into strips I probably could piece together again if I was patient enough, it overheated so easily and shredding cards was a chore, even though it was sold as card shredder (random cheap brand I don't remember).
Not this one, it only works attached to the container, it didn't overheat in a drawer cleaning full of docs that took me the better part of the day. Old credit cards gone for good. Shreds paper into pieces that would need some genius talent and the container makes it easy to fit a trash bag, the mess is clean from the start.
If you never had a paper/card shredder at home you can't understand how it feels good getting rid of old docs properly. Some people can throw it all in a bucket and burn it, but if you can't, that's the way to go. It may be silly to post a review on a shredder, but safely disposing old docs is very important.
I have replaced this with a dicksmith shredder, which was my companion for almost 6 years. The cutting unit fell from my hand and it just broke. So replaced with Lenox unit.It did the job as advertised. Has been using this for a month and there is no Hiccups. It does shred the documents well and no complaints.
This is, hands down the best shredder, to date, that I have ever owned. Shredded like a champ with a quick turnaround from overheating protection to up and running again...around 10 to 15 minutes. Shutdown twice and a garbage bag later, it was done. Great stuff:-)
I would recommend this shredder. It cuts well. I have had shredders in the past when using for 10mins or so they overheat and have to be turned off for several mins. I have used this one many times now and it hasn’t yet overheated. It is a little noisy. But overall a good purchase.
