This is one of those books that I made myself put down between chapters, so I could make sure I enjoyed it for as long as possible. This story is a great blend of romance, angst and hot loving between two engaging leads, and it has some genuinely moving moments. The historical and paranormal aspects of the story aren't neglected either and the story is a worthy homage to its Victorian influences (matters such as the debt to the Sherlock Holmes stories are handled with a deft touch). Definitely one for the re-read list.
I did enjoy this quite a lot but I found it a bit harder to 'bond' with the characters than with other works by KJ Charles. I'd still recommend it because it's written very well. Slightly more oddball than some of her others but very good:-)
