Every book I read of Adriana Locke’s becomes my new favourite. She manages to balance every emotion and make her reads electric. Her leading men are exceptional as she writes family and loyalty like no other and ‘Crank’ is fantastic and ticks all of those boxes. It truly is “Southern royalty meets small town mechanic, 5 stars”. ‘Crank’ is the first book in the Gibson Boys series.
It all started with an accident and once Sienna locked eyes with the owner of the truck she just hit. Even though he certainly Is not the type of man that she would have dated in Savannah, with his scowl and cranky attitude he made her feel HOT. Something she never was even in the rooms of politicians and celebrities.
The next morning she realises she has to see him again in a few days at his auto repair shop. She can’t stop thinking about him and after seeing him again she still can’t read this man. This sexy as sin man who smells like grease and heartbreak. She was just drawing her to him...
Ultimately it was Sienna that made this book for me - she was AMAZING! The fixer with the biggest heart. She made me smile, especially at her confidence and the way she loved the Gibson boys and nana fiercely. This book made me laugh, made me shed a few tears. Thanks Adriana for another amazing book!
This is the kind of book you just like to read, a good story, great group of characters, a lot of good banter between Walker and Sienna, and how good a friend was Peck, sound like a great little town to live in.
I loved this!! I was so excited when I saw the news that we were getting Sienna’s story because hello? More Landry family! I was not disappointed.
Crank is so sweet, sexy and heartwarming! It really has everything you could want.
I loved how both of the characters met, it’s one of my favourite parts of the book! I really loved Walker, he was one of the broody male characters that we all love and he was perfect for Sienna. Sienna may come from a well-off family but she isn’t your stereotypical snobby brat. She is so down to earth and independent. This story isn’t an instant love, Walker makes you go back and forth for a while, he’s into it but then he isn’t. But this isn’t for any old reason, Locke has it all planned and gives you something that leaves you a little bit speechless.
As always with any Locke novel, the secondary characters are some amazing characters and not the type of characters you forget easily. You end up loving them like you love the main characters. I honestly can’t wait to see more of Walker’s family.
I enjoyed this book and I would highly recommend it!! The storyline, characters, and the relationship are amazing to read and drew me in!
'Crank' is well written, very sexy, charming, funny and emotional. It's arguably Adriana's best book, so far. (Gorgeous cover design, btw.) Adriana's facebook catch phrase for 'Crank' - 'blue collar meets silver spoon' sets the scene for the plot. So, with that major difference in mind, it's easy to see how Walker and Sienna's relationship is complex and turbulent. Yet, despite challenges, they are clearly soulmates and their sexual attraction is explosive. Another strong theme running through the book is, family. Sienna is privileged, restless, open-hearted and strong-willed. Walker Gibson is a down-to-earth, hardworking mechanic. He is also broody, intense and alpha. Deep down, they recognise 'something' when they first lay eyes on each other (in less than ideal circumstances) but, Walker decides to take Sienna 'on' - one of many face-offs. He also holds his feelings back. Why? The excellent secondary characters help build the plot - Walker's family are good people, loving and loyal (and we already know the Landrys have a fierce love for each other). Adriana's new contemporary romance is completely engaging and absolutely ticked all the boxes for a 5 star rating. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. 'Crank' is the start of Adriana Locke's new series, The Gibson Boys. It also finishes The Landry Family Series. The link is Sienna, who is the last Landry sibling to find love.
In what could have been a sixth book in the Landry Family Series, Adriana Locke instead has spun that series off into the first installment of what promises to be a very different series, both in look and feel, The Gibson Boys.
Sienna Landry, who in the way that counts when it comes to romance novels is the last Landry standing, finds herself many miles from home and is in some ways quite happy about that.
Free from the overbearing oversight of her parents and four older brothers, she's been trying to find her own footing, on her own terms, setting up a design business with close friend Delaney.
Completely by accident, she finds herself indebted to Walker Gibson, and since he point blank refuses to accept her money, she manages to talk herself into paying off the debt by working at the auto shop he runs, the eponymous Crank.
Walker would have to be far and away the most taciturn and recalcitrant hero Adriana has ever produced, and his withdrawn and moody nature affects the tone of the whole book, but this factor is offset by the presence of Peck Gibson. Cousin, co-worker, sidekick, and friend whose happy-go-lucky nature and zany wit provide a counterbalance with Sienna the fulcrum caught in between.
I mentioned elsewhere while I was reading this book that one of Adriana’s great strengths is creating great, relatable, and memorable side characters, and the town of Linton is chock full of them. Characters that, with just a few words of introduction feel like they’re people you should already know. After all, Linton is that kind of town.
This review wouldn’t be complete without making special note of one side character in particular, the guy they call Old Man Dave. As the moniker would suggest, he’s older, named Dave, and has absolutely no hesitation in sharing with the world how much he loves his wife, and how important a role love plays in achieving true happiness. He reminds me of someone.
A story where things are rarely what they seem, where families that on the surface seem so very different prove that what makes a family work is universal, and where lost souls find their way, even if the route the take is twisted and tortuous, this wound up being one of my stand out reads of 2017.
I loved the way the various plot elements and the various characters each played off of each other to create a symphony where each part, though more than a few might appear harsh or shrill if taken individually, blend together to achieve an emotional impact that, at times, had me gasping for my next breath.
It’s just so good! I simply cannot wait to see what Adriana has in store for the rest of the Gibson boys.
Loved loved loved!!!! I couldn’t get enough of it! Loved their story, Walker and Sienna. I wanted to punch Tabby in the throat so many times, and Walker was an idiot at times! So glad Sienna seen the light that Walker is a good guy. The sorry seemed to jump a bit in the middle and was like huh, how’d we get here. Soooo happy there’s more in the series.
This lady is a brilliant writer xo i love everything she has written xo the first of the Gibson boys very good happy to see the rest of the clan find there happy ending especially cheeky hot lance xo don't think I can ever be swayed from Lincoln but we will see xo
I say this every time I read an Adriana Locke book but they keep getting better and better! I really enjoyed this book, I read it in one sitting and I’ve already reread it once! I can’t wait for more of this series!
I grabbed this book on Release Day and wish I hadn't waited to read it. It was fantastic! I loved everything about Walker & Sienna's story. The right balance of heat, laughs and sweet. Definitely looking forward to more books in this series.
