This book… THIS BOOK OH MY GOD! It was absolutely incredible!
So the book follows Leah, the best friend Simon from Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda. It’s their senior year and prom is closing in. It’s pretty character driven, a little bit of a plot appearing around halfway through. She realises she has feelings for one of her female friends and she had to figure out how to handle that.
The romance was done so well. It took its time as Leah isn’t out as bisexual to anyone but her mum, and she’s convinced she’s straight. I loved the development of the romance and it had a great payoff. It made me so happy to read and I’m already craving more of them.
I loved Leah a lot too. I connected with her throughout the book. I also loved her relationship with her mum. Since she had her young they were clearly closer because of it.
This was an overall amazing book and I cannot recommend it enough.
Leah on the Offbeat is a great book within the universe of Simon Spier. Whilst I personally prefer the original book, Simon Vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda, this is a good spin off whic features the same characters but from the viewpoint of Leah.
I will admit, that in the original book it was so gripping I couldn’t put it down, but in this novel the storyline is more complicated, slightly less gripping whilst still being a high quality product that can be read over several days.
Overall Leah on the Offbeat is a great book to compliment Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda.
Leah on the Offbeat is the sequel we've all been waiting for. Witty, charming, and so gosh darn cute. Becky Albertalli has once again brought to life our favourite beans in a world of drama, secrets, love and just oh so much cuteness. We see every major character from Simon Vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda, and this book just does a wonderful and amazing job of giving us more back story and insight into these precious characters (Simon is the most precious peanut ever, I'm sorry, its true). While I didn't relate to Leah as much as I did Simon, the representation a number of people close to me have gained from this beautiful book has made it even more loveable. If you're a fan of Simon Vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda (or Love, Simon and have read Simon Vs) you should 100% get your hands on this book!!
