Laramie Briscoe once again brings us a another great book in the moonshine task force Anthony AKA Ace and Violet. I could relate to Violets story on every level . As a woman who was repeatedly abused by her husband who was knocked down time and time again sometimes wished she could be someone else someone brave and courageous but most of all loved . I my self am a child of domestic violence and i could totally understand and relate to violet on every level. I love how patient Ace was with her giving her time to grow and find out who she was for herself. Not pushing any limitations on her afraid that if he did she would run away. I loved this srory because she finally got to be free and any woman who has been in a domestic abuse situation knows what its like to finally be free and standing on the other side and brand new person. 5 stars from me
I love this author Laramie Briscoe and the moonshine task force series .Ace and violet story was really worth reading.Cant wait for Mason story to come out 9.3.18 No.5 Menace.
Ace is broken up into parts and as a result, each one takes us through the build-up of Ace and Violet making a new life together. Slow and steady is how I would describe their love story. The character’s constant mutual intensity is offset with humorous and family moments with the Moonshine Taskforce team.
The author lightly explained Violet’s relationship with her husband which I appreciated. It gives you enough to understand how she became involved with her husband and the eventual realization that she was in an uncontrollable situation.
Helping to build a solid and realistic timeframe for Violets recovery, Ace does jump ahead in time. Consequently, we, therefore, get to enjoy each step of their relationship and those special moments that will make you smile.
Mystery surrounds Violet and I highly anticipated her story yet I admit I cannot recall too much of Ace in the other books. My favourite couple of this series is Havoc & Leighton so I was delighted we continue with them too. She is one character from the first moment of introduction that has held my heart.
The next installment being Menace’s story I am highly anticipating. There is a hint of a possible suitor for him and I hope I am correct in my hunch.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this very entertaining series by this fabulous author, Ace is different but every bit as good as the rest. The variety within each storyline is what makes it so interesting as you never know just what is coming up ahead in the story!
Violet is a victim of domestic violence and her brute of a husband goes that one step too far by attacking her in a public place-ensuring lots of witnesses! Anthony, or Ace, is the one who apprehended him but he is also there for Violet after she is released from the hospital. Violet has to relearn her strengths and build her confidence in herself as a decent human being.
Great descriptions make it easy to visualise each scene as well as the characters and how they are feeling...like this one when Violet goes to her therapist for the first time- "Like diarrhea of the mouth my whole story flows without stopping. I speak so long that my jaw begins to ache, and when I’m done, I feel as if I’ve gone ten rounds with a boxing champ." Readers get a clear picture but also really feel the exhaustion and emotional turmoil Violet is going through.
Taking it slowly means that the relationship between the lead characters grows in deeper ways. When they decide to explore more intimacy it is explosive. The connection between them is so strong it's almost a tangible thing.
The underlying issue of illegal alcohol or 'Moonshine' rears its ugly head again with terrible consequences. This is woven throughout the story and not only teases readers but the Moonshine Task Force as well.
Reading this series is as comfy and relaxing as slipping on your favourite slippers!
I have been waiting patiently for this book since we first got a glimpse of Violet and Anthony in book 3 of this dynamite series. Anthony“Ace”Bailey is a thrill seeker in my book and was never one for following the rules even when it came to a ring on someone's finger and unhappiness shining in her eyes. Violet Miller has gone through a traumatic experience being attacked by her husband but its nothing compared to the abuse she has suffered for years. Enter Ace who puts a stop to it and arrest her husband but he's also determined to be there for her and to take his chance once she has healed. This pair is made for each other and you see glimpses throughout the story whenever they are together. When they finally come together its like magic because it completely enchants you. I LOVE THIS series and this is totally my favorite couple!!!!
