I enjoyed reading this book. The author has built the shifter/supernatural world her own way. The underlying premise is that in order to unite all shifters, the alphas of the 4 packs (Canine, Feline, Avian and other) need to mate with a female dragon shifter. It is only from this mating dynamic that other dragon shifters can be born as well. Trouble is, Ren hasn't been exposed to the shifter world and remembers nothing of her origins. An accidental kidnapping changes all of that and now Ren just might be running for her life. As she struggles to unleash the dragon within her, she also struggles with the pull she feels towards Marco, Aaron, Nate and even West (who is a royal ass). The characters were well developed and it was actually refreshing to have a MC who, while is still the cliché virgin at 21 (and her mates 'status' not as clearly discussed), didn't dive straight into a sexual relationship with them all. She held out despite the supernatural mating pull. I would have liked more explanation in this one as to why the rogues were coming after them - surely the alphas would have known from history why the rogues would be hunting them/Ren. I also don't get the hot/cold reception from West. I'm almost wondering if it was because one of Ren's older sisters was meant to be their mate, and given they would have been a closer age whether they had known each other? There may be other explanations but they weren't delved into. Hopefully we see more back stories and character depth revealed in the next book. It's made me continue to think about it at any rate, which is always the sign of a good book.
Plunging into this book, I was first apprehensive - I’d never read a reverse harem before. But heck, why not? So I give it a shot... and that was the start of something amazing. I fell in love with the world Eva Chase created, the characters, adventure and the slow-building yet all-encompassing romance. One year later, I’m a loyal fan, rereading this series and reminiscing about how glad I was I took a chance that day, reading something new and so unique. Now I improre you, reader, to give it a try too.
Love Eva Chase. She is a brilliant author and I love reading everything she writes. Her characters and world building drags you in and holds you and her storytelling wraps you up and doesn’t let you go. She is amazing. You laugh and you cry and your heart melts and breaks in all the feels that she leaves you with. I’m so glad I took the recommendation in a readers group to pick up her books. I haven’t regretted it once.
This was a really enjoyable shifter RH book. So many different sides to Ren - the smart, tough, independent street kid who's done what was needed to survive; and the vulnerable side stepping into the shifter world she doesn't remember. Really liked her mates and looking forward to see what happens in the next book.
Eve chase is an amazing author and this is an incredible start to one of my favourite series. If you love shifters then this is for you. Wonderful men with distinct personalities, strengths and problems. Strong mc and a plot that has you hooked in the first few pages
I have to admit that this story is quite a bit different from what I was expecting which while surprising is a good thing. The story to me falls more in the urban fantasy genre than the romance category. Don’t get me wrong, it has romance, lots of steamy passion and sizzling chemistry but is also full of intrigue and thrills that keep the adrenaline pumping and suspense builds throughout the story keeping readers glued to the pages. The characters are strong and compelling and draw the readers to them which makes it easy for the readers to become caught up in the unfolding story as they find themselves facing their lives that are taking a disturbing turn.
The author brought her intriguing reverse harem world to vibrant life with well written words that makes it easy for readers to picture the events as they happen and I was completely caught up in the story from the very beginning although I have to admit it was a bit disappointing when it ended in a cliffhanger, so I must warn you that is a serial romance.
I absolutely adored this book, great introduction to a new series. I loved the M.C. Ren, she is very relatable. Her difficulties harnessing her powers is compelling. I loved the four guys in this but Nate would have to be my favourite- who doesn’t like a big bear hug? Literally from a bear! I felt each of the men’s character background and development was really good. Ren’s back story is a continuing theme in the book that is very gradually revealed. So much to love in this book that a 5 star rating was inevitable.
Lots of great action throughout this book. I love Ren’s character, she is on a journey of discovery to find her inner dragon and is helped along the way by her four potential mates. The storyline is steamy in places but not over the top. Lots of witty repartee between Ren and her friend Kylie, gives the reader more of an insight into Ren’s early life. I am looking forward to reading more from this series. I received a complimentary copy of this book and have voluntarily given an honest review.
