Don't waste your time
1 April 2018
I am truly baffled by the positive reviews. All I found was hot air.
Self promotional and devoid of substance. Don't be fooled. This is not a book in the conventional sense. I gave it a good chance, but got frustrated waiting for the hyped up generalities and self promotional stuff to finish and the actual book (the bit that's supposed to contain any substance) to start. In the end I ditched it.
He's articulate, but the only insight he communicated in the first quater was that high performers are driven by purpose (as opposed to ego or money). That was good, but the rest was just empty. He promoted his companies a lot and saying how he'd trained famous people and how many youtube hits his videos get and how many people did his online surveys etc. But why talk up your credentials if you aren't going to follow it up with actual content? I think he's just trying to encourage people to give him business in his other companies. The book is just a giant brochure.
If this kind of hot air can make its way onto a best seller list, then what is the world coming to?
I've (generously) given it two stars rather than one, just in case the book got better after I gave up on it a quarter of the way through.
