A good read. The author has dementia and she records her journey through the early stages; how she struggles to continue contributing to her community, the measures she takes to live as "normally" as possible whilst coping with the disease. Interspersed are sections in which she addresses herself, reminding herself and the reader of how she used to function pre-dementia. I found these sections a bit distracting, even irritating, and I wondered how she could recall in such detail how she used to be.
When I was waiting for my GP app. I found article about this book in Woman’s Weekly. The moment I was back at my home I found this Kindle edition on Amazon, and couldn’t stop till I finished reading it. Amazing insight in everyday life of dementia patient. Everyone should read it. Everyone.
My husband is living with dementia. All the medical journals I’ve read in order to understand what he’s going through did not prepare me as much as Wendy’s beautiful writing about what she’s going through. I feel more equipped now to be by his side in this journey.
