I received a copy of this book and I gladly leave a review. This is the first ever book I’ve read from Alyne Hart and I’m so glad I did. This book is about Jax and Autumn and their second chance at love. Autumn is insecure because of the way the love of her life left her, Jax is a rock star and he left Autumn because he thought that he was doing the right thing, but he never forgot her. This book gives u all kinds of feels, happy and sad and very relatable. Fantastic book and a must read. I definitely recommend this book.
Jax and Autumn were high school sweethearts until it all went wrong. When Jax comes back to town ten years later they get back together. But it isn't quite as simple as that. Jax is just visiting and has to go back to his real life, as a hard working rock star. Long distance romance isn't easy and this book captures the harsh reality of that fact. We get to experience the ups and downs and all the feels. I loved the dynamic between Autumn and Jax. All those Skype calls were tough but when they got together in real life, oh boy, fireworks! Great book, bring on the next one Ms Hart.
This had me hooked from the very start. So much of this just had me feeling like I was peering into a window from my past......I could relate to so much. I don't know how Alyne Hart fits so much into her stories but she does, and its all good and solid and leaves you really feeling like you know these characters. This had me laughing and even shedding a tear or two. I'm looking forward to hearing more of Jaxon and Autumns story.......and of course I want to hear Hadleys story too.
Okay, so if you can get me, Molly O'Hare to like a second chance romance you have done something right. And I do not say that lightly. for some weird reason, I've never liked them. However, I started reading this last night and DID NOT put it down. Here we have Autumn and Jax, who were once high school sweethearts. It didn't last though. Jax went on with his rockstar life. Did that make me want to punch him? Yeah. Did some of the things that happened when they were apart make me feel all the feels, including anger and longing. HECK YES. But then everything, just came together. Were there ups and downs, and my emotions went through a roller coaster ride? Yes. And I never wanted it to stop. This is the second book I've read by Alyne Hart, and I can tell you something, she has a gift at pulling her readers in. Like I said before, I am not a huge second chance romance person, but this changed my mind. Now I can't wait for more!
So I just finished Alyne Hart's Rocking Autumn (first time reader of Ms Hart's work) and I have to say that I found it an incredibly refreshing story! Its a solid 4.5 stars from me (I wish there was half stars Arg!). My favourite thing about the book was the believable pacing of Jax and AJ's relationship, it wasn't rushed and I appreciated the fact that forgiveness had to be earned (it wasn't insta-forgiveness, I hate that!). I liked the honesty, the rawness of their emotions and the long struggle to get where they needed to be. For me, it seemed more realistic than other stories where they are forgiven the minute they apologise, or they have a week apart and can't take another moment of separation and sell everything and just MOVE their whole life! (I mean that's not something people just do in real life, am I right?). If it was my life, it would happen exactly the way Alyne Hart wrote Jax and AJ's story! THAT'S why I enjoyed Rocking Autumn so much, it was real and honest. So, if you like a book that can sell the uncomfortable truth about real relationships, please give this book a go, I guarantee you'll enjoy yourself. Before long you will be like me, all in with team Jaxtumn (flaws, weaknesses and all).
I came to be aware of Alyne by reading her first novel "The Island" and I was hooked by her style of writing. She has a simplicity about it that makes the story flow so wonderfully as it's riddled with a deepness in it. I think Twain said it best, "I didn't have time to write a short letter, so I wrote a long one instead." And that is what I loved about her writing in the Island and now in Rocking Autumn...she makes things easy but not simple.
She writes dialogue so wonderfully well between the characters, and she creates great mystery when you're reading as I didn't want to put the book down. I'm naturally a slow reader and it takes me a while to finish books, but in her two books I found that I kept pushing my bed times further and further back as I couldn't sleep until I got just a little farther in the book. Just five more minutes I would rationalize with myself and then 30 minutes had passed...as I had to force myself to put it down so I would be worth something the next morning for my day ahead.
If you love great storytelling with a hint of beautifully poetry intermixed in the writing...then this book is for you. The way the words are woven, and the simplicity that she gets across in her writing makes this book not just a fun read...but I find myself hoping a little more and thinking deeper about the beauties of life, as I not only became part of the story...but I was ready to go out and live mine a little more purposefully because of this book.
I think about one of my favorite lines in the book "You are the only thing in my life that I've done right. You are the only thing that holds me firmly to this earth." This book won't be the ONLY thing Alyne has done in her life right. I am looking forward to more of her works.
Rock stars romances are typically not the books I tend to read, but this one had nothing to do with that! Fantastic switch from the typical! The connection, past, and love between the two characters literally came off the page. As a reader I could feel their love and their pain. The journey they've taken to find their way back was fantastic. Loved it! Parts are funny, parts were heartbreaking, parts I just wanted to yell at the book, but in the end, I got the happily ever after I'm always hoping for.
This book has it all and I could really connect with the Autumn. I love how its not all roses and puppy dogs and how the characters just seem to jump off the page and into real life. I love how Alyne writes events that are believable giving the reader something to connect with. Great book, great reading material. Ladies, have some tissues in hand for some parts and other parts that leave you breathless with your heart pounding....and an inexplicable desire to bake a lot of cupcakes....
