You fall in love with the charters of Everlasting. Polly is adorable but be careful of her baked goods. Petey is a rough sea dog, with a heart of gold. Penelope thinks she fell down a rabbit's hole, what? Witches, werewolves and hunters are real? Her boyfriend thinks so, is he misguided or is it her. Good read with lots of laughs
or forever swim against the current. It’s in your blood, you know? the town is full of witches, werewolves, and magic? What rabbit hole had she fallen down? WHAT IN THE EVERLASTING PEANUT BUTTER & JAM SANDWICHES JUST HAPPENED? What a perfectly romantic & funtabulous story and a half!! I hurt from laughing so hard! Or maybe that was from... Nah! It was the laughing! wink Who knew a cup of coffee could be so incredibly funny!!! Right from the start I was transported back to Everlasting, but this time I got to see more of the town, meet more of the people and live & experience it all through, with and as Penelope and Hugh! To say I thoroughly and immensely enjoyed every single word of it is putting it mildly!! I was enchanted from the start, loving the cast of multifaceted characters, laughing my guts out, jealous I don't have sinful cranberry scones, dreaming of the day I can find myself in Everlasting to find me my mate too!! *dreamy sigh* I have been eagerly looking forward to reading this book in the series the most because I wanted to see Mandy's version of a Cozy Paranormal Mystery!! I fell hard in book love with Mandy right from the very first book/series I read of hers! And if you have read the Daughter of Darkness series, then you can see why this book would intrigue me so much! While it is very different (from DoD), it is still filled up with the same Mandylicious storytelling I love, Love, LOVE of hers!!! Mandy is an infinitely & phenomenally talented author who is also exceptionally & genuinely gifted! No matter the style, genre, length, level of naughtiness or what name its written under, Mandy M. Roth has captivated me from beginning to end with every story she writes! Right from that very first book/series, Mandy became one of my very favorite authors and will forever be Happily Everlasting on my bookshelf and in my heart! *grin* “Stop being a gentleman and show me what a beast you can be”
OMG! I laughed myself silly. This is the funniest book and a great story too. This is the first Everlasting book I’ve read and I just loved it! Penelope is on her way to Everlasting (Maine) but her GPS tries to tell her that her grandfather’s shop is in the middle of the ocean. Duh! She’s beside a lighthouse and considers asking for directions but she sees a man in boxers and a sports coat at the window and changes her mind and turns around instead. As she’s heading up the road in what she hopes might be the right direction it starts raining really hard and she pulls over so she doesn’t wind up driving into the ocean. As she’s waiting for the rain to abate she sees headlights behind her and realizes they’ve pulled up behind her. Terrified she watches a hood figure get out and approach her window. Turns out it’s a woman, friendly too. She tells Penelope to follow her and she’ll get her to town. Penelope follows the woman, Jolene, to her gas station and goes inside where they share coffee and a chat. As they are talking they hear a knock who turns out to be Deputy March. The deputy says he’s investigating two murders. When he finds out Penelope is new in town and her grandfather is Wilbur he tries to arrest her on suspicion. Jolene intervenes and refuses to let him. This is the beginning of the funniest mystery/romance story I’ve ever read. Seriously you will laugh till you cry, especially when you get to the part about Hugh’s spell that’s makes his foul language turn into threats like he’s going to stuff his sunflower up somebody’s watermelon. Or something to that effect. Too funny and really cute. If you’re looking for bloody violence in your murder mysteries, don’t stop here! Great book!! I loved it! Too many exclamation points? You won’t think so once you’ve read it. Truly.
Prepare to run the gamut of emotions, but most especially laughing at some of the things that are said after the help of locals to win the bet. This book has a little bit of everything, magic, mayhem, werewolves and more. Such an enjoyable read that I couldn't put it down.
