This was the first book in this series that I've read (silly I know because it's book 5) and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
I haven't read a really good mafia book in a long time and this book just sucked me right in.
Even though it's book 5, it's written in a way that I was able to understand the differences between The Fellowship, The Syndicate and the Order.
I fell in love with the characters in this book and love that it's based in Scotland!
Keiran, who's an assassin for his family is told that in order for their to be peace between the Syndicate and the Fellowship he needs to marry one of the daughters of the Breckenridge family. He's given three options but in the end the choice is taken away from him.
The way that he takes his future wife, Westlyn, is true mafia style. I loved how strong both Westlyn and Kieran's characters were. Westlyn, being raised in the Fellowship, knew the way of the families. It still didn't make her happy that she had no choice in who she was going to marry. She still stood up for herself and didn't back down.
Once both characters accepted that they were going to be together they made the most of it and I loved that. They both took it upon themselves to get to know each other and discovered that maybe being together wouldn't be the worst thing.
Unintended has definitely gotten me intrigued and I'm keen to read the other books!
It took me longer than I thought it would to get into this book. I loved the previous 4 and was expecting to jump straight into loving this one as well. Kieran was a definite alpha, very strong and forceful and Westlyn a strong independent woman in her own way. I loved this story, but I couldn't get past the rape threat! Granted it didn't happen but the threat of rape was very drastic for me. You have these strong sundicate men taking over the order. Trying to make it into a better organisation yet they are willing to follow the right of passage of the orders old ways by raping women when they see fit. This book lost me here. I spent the whole of the previous 4 books loving how even though it was a very male dominated society the fellowship wouldn't harm women and children from the order and they would condemn the order for doing this to their women. Yet in this book I was expected to except it as part of the natural way, and that the fellowship thinking Westlyn had been raped would just hand her over and gladly sign a treaty with the order. I struggled to bond with this book and even though I loved the storyline and the characters the idea that to rape a woman is the standard within the order was a struggle for me and the fat it was so readily excepted by the fellowship and even by westlyn was difficult for me. She had grown up watching girls raped and mutilated by these men. Blu even went so far as to train these women self defence so they could protect themselves from the abuses of the order. Then all of a sudden a kidnapping, rape and beating is a way of finding a wife. I mean come on pick a lane. The first 4 books set the rape of women up as being disgusting and abhorrent now because he's a good looking man we should be expected to except it. I wish I could take the rape threat out of the book and forget it didn't happen. Then I would definitely say 5/5 but I can't unsee this unfortunately. Such a shame because what a magnificent set of stories so far.
A Necessary Sin #1 The Next Sin #2 One Last Sin #3 Endurance #4 Unintended #5
Unintended is told in Dual POV and there is NO cliffhanger. The timeframe of this story overlaps Endurance (4th book). So after reading Endurance you get all of your questions about Westlyn answered in this book.
Kieran and Westlyn have an unconventional start to their relationship thats for sure!! But reading the development of their relationship was wonderful. Their connection was undeniable and I loved going on this journey with them. Georgia never disappoints when it comes to this world. I loved every alpha male she writes and I’m so looking forward to Leith and Lorna's story and Mitch and Shaw's. That book is going to be so much fun to read! I cannot wait!
"She is my other half. My better half. And that is why I will never let her go. I was her kidnapper. I may have taken her as my captive, but she’s the one who captured my heart"
Finding it hard to give this book even 1 star. I've read a lot of romance books, some really good and some not so good. I'm afraid this falls into the latter category. The structuring of the story telling was disjointed and didn't flow at all. The dialogue between the two main characters was terrible and totally far fetched. The scenes seem to jump from one thing to another. I found it a real struggle to even finish the book because I was hoping the narrative would improve, unfortunately it didn't.
Was this set in the middle ages? No it seems to be recent. Kieran must take a wife and Westlyn is the 'lucky' choice. So he kidnaps her and threatens her. But pure little Westlyn has barely been kissed and feels good with him. Stockholm Syndrome much! I struggled with the archaic values. Kieran is actually a nice guy, he just kills a lot of people.
Westlyn and Kieran are a funny bunch to have s romance story enemies to lovers. I liked how kieran changes and shows his soft side without losing his potty mouth or lying and helps westlyn fall in love with him.
I read this in 1 day as it could not put it down. Westland and Kierans story. I thought he was going to be an as whole and the way he first acted I wanted to punch him. As the study progresses it is beautiful to see the love they feel for one another. My only wish was that it lasted longer.
I really did like reading Westlyn and Kieran story. The order have they own way of doing things. To kidnap people and get away with it because it's what you do is beyond me. Another one of Georgia's books that I give my full support.
