This is the newer version with a different title, cover and a few more pages. My review relates to the old EC version but story is the pretty much same. I really need to say that reading this without having read the rest of the series would be very confusing. You must read the previous books to understand what is happening and who these people are. This book also spurs off to a couple of other series by this author, featuring characters from this series. Michelle is a cop but she is also a witch. There are nasty mages running around, killing witches for their powers. Liked Michelle but thought she let Josh off way too easily. I understand everything that was going at this moment in her life was high pressure but still too quick with the instant forgiveness. Having to add in the fact her best friend has gone missing, she fears kidnaped by the mages has her worrying badly. Going to the werewolves for help tracking her friend, Michelle runs into her old high school boyfriend that just up and left her with no word. Josh was bitten and turned when he was still a young man. He left town to protect everyone and to find out how to be a werewolf. Now an enforcer for the Pacific Pack, he realises that Michelle is his mate and has to make up ground fast as well as help Michelle and protect her from the mages. The background about Michelle and Josh is only very lightly talked about. We now have evil mages to be dealt with which is left open ended in this book and crosses over to the De La Vega series. Hated what happened to Allie but it is interesting getting the de La Vega cats involved so we can spin off in a new direction. I am rereading these books for the fourth time and reviewing them as I go.
