I did enjoy this, a second chance tale with a few twists & some suspense. In a nutshell this type of story has been done before ie the young in love couple from a poor area, he leaves to follow his dream (in this case rock star) & she stays behind. Derrick returns about 5yrs later, tired of the lifestyle, looking for Jaymes but things are not the same.
This is about them reconnecting & dealing with the aftermath of his leaving. Its not a pretty tale in parts however he wants to do the best he can to rectify things. It does come to a bit of head but it's over rather quickly, so perhaps there could've been a bit more there. There's also a nice twist at the end.
This book was another recommendation from Kindle Unlimited and I enjoyed the twist on a typical rockstar story. I hadn't realised this was a spinoff from an earlier series and I think I would of enjoyed it more if I had read the original series first.
Jaymes is an excellent character, the kind of woman that all women should cheer for. Despite the odds, she has managed to create an admirable life for her and her family while bettering herself in the meantime. Derrick was likeable for the most part but his chosen ignorance of what happened to the life he left behind was frustrating. However, their HEA is well deserved.
I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone looking for something quick and easy to read, especially those whom enjoy a rockstar romance.
