I thought it’d be boring, you know the “Second chances, always fighting and hating on each other” kind of story..NO, this one had to go and break my heart!! I hoped (a few chapters in) he’d had an affair, that way I could hate him too, again NO!!
I cried. I broke. I watched them heal, which helped me heal
It absolutely killed me to read it, but holy hell was it memorable!!
Thank you 😊 this was just so beautifully written, one can only fall in love with it 💔❤️❤️💔
So...I read the blurb to this book & I thought to myself...yeah I will give it a go...sounds like a pretty good tale. Oh my God...I am totally floored! From page 1 I was captured and enthralled by Jodi's 3rd book in her A Love Happens series. These books are standalones and as I have not read books 1&2 I can safely say that you do not need to have read the previous 2 books to really enjoy this one....however I can guarantee you that once you've read this you WILL go back & read the others. This book has whet my appetite for Jodi Watters & I cannot wait to get into those published previously. True to You is a most wonderfully crafted story. It brings us into the lives of Asher & Olivia Coleson, a retired special ops agent & an executive manager for Asher's father's vineyard. The way that Jodi has so beautifully & intricately woven their heartbreak & passion into such a believable & entertaining piece of prose has truly been exceptional. They say that there is a fine line between love & hate....well Liv & Ash certainly stretch this line to almost non-existence & even though this was a story filled with so much pain & hurt & sadness, it was also one of the most uplifting & amusing books I've read. This book earns a huge 5⛤ rating from me...just so so good!
I'm use to short novels maybe 200 pages but this was generously written book about a husband and wife who are looking for ways to save their relationship. On the down side if you don't want to invest in a long read this may not be for you. I read this in two days but skipped some parts; basically there are times when the author seems to be over-reaching or over-extending events and circumstances. Author also seems to go back and forth between past and present which can get a little tiring. Overall, I liked the author - Jodi Watter's writing in that she writes very fluidly with a lot of maturity in terms of how a relationship with an estranged wife or husband would play out. I loved the dialogue between characters and there's a lot of chemistry and faith between Ash and Olivia and they can't seem to leave each other alone as there is a lot of requited love between them. They're always giving each other time to heal and you can see how their love would live through anything.
This one was a real tear jerker. There was so much vulnerability in the characters and I cried along with both Ash and Olivia many times. Beautifully written and very raw at times, very funny at others. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series!
